Great one for one deal with the Visa Signature Hotel Collection (EDIT: Dead)

Update (16/9)- Not surprisingly, Visa Luxury Hotels Collection has chosen to pull the deal early.

Due to the unexpected popularity of the Hilton free night offer, hotel inventory subject to this offer booked up much sooner than anticipated and is no longer available. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please note that the $75 USD gift card promotion is still available at Participating Hilton Hotels, see the offer page for more information.

Congrats to everyone who managed to take advantage of this.

If you own a Visa Signature or Infinite card you are eligible to participate in the Visa Signature Luxury Hotels collection. I wrote about this previously, but to recap, when you book through this site you enjoy

  • Automatic room upgrade when available
  • Complimentary in-room wifi
  • Complimentary continental breakfast daily
  • USD$25 F&B credit
  • 3PM check-out when available
  • “VIP” guest status

Some of these benefits are similar to those you’d get if you had elite status in a hotel chain, so if you don’t then this is a good way of getting those benefits.

Remember that even though Visa Signature was positioned as a mass affluent tier when it was launched, it has since been devalued like mad and you can get one even at the basic $30,000 income requirement. Some examples of Visa Signature cards in Singapore at the $30,000 income requirement include (not exhaustive)

  • Citibank Rewards Visa Signature
  • DBS Altitude Visa Signature
  • SCB PruPrestige Visa Signature
  • OCBC 365 Visa Signature
  • CIMB Visa Signature

There is an ongoing deal now for Conrad, Waldorf Astoria and Curio hotels that features a buy one night get one night free offer, if you book before 31 Dec 2016 and stay before 31 March 2017.

Let’s look at my favourite property in the whole world, the Conrad Koh Samui. Ever since my amazing stay there I’ve been scheming of different ways I can stay again without having to spend upwards of S$1,000 a night

So far my options are (read the article if you want further details)

Option 1: Hilton Premium Club Membership (S$623 per night for 1 bedroom villa)
Option 2: The Entertainer (S$566 a night, if you don’t mind staying with another couple in a 2 bedroom villa)
Option 3: Buying HHonors Points (S$540 or S$640 a night, depending when you stay and if you can buy during a 0.5 cent per point sale)

If you go via the current offer the Visa Signature Luxury Hotel Collection is offering, your stay will cost US$1,872 with taxes included, before the discount. Take 50% off that and you’re looking at US$936, or S$1,278 for 2 nights.

The effective rate of S$639 makes this an attractive deal, though perhaps not as attractive as buying the Hilton Premium Club membership given the other benefits that membership has.

Full T&C are here. It says you can enjoy a maximum of one free night per stay, but there’s nothing stopping you from getting your spouse to book 2 nights and you booking 2 nights, thereby enjoying 4 nights for the price of 2.

Offer must be booked at one of the 50 participating Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts™, Conrad Hotels & Resorts™, or Curio – A Collection by Hilton™ (“Participating Hotels”) by December 31, 2016, for stays through March 31, 2017 with an eligible Visa Premium card through a Visa Luxury Hotel Collection website or Visa Concierge. Minimum 2-night consecutive stay required. Free night will be the rate for the last night of the stay inclusive of associated taxes and fees and will be deducted at the hotel upon check-out. Maximum one free night per room, per stay. Back-to-back stays within 24 hours at the same hotel are considered one stay, regardless of check-out and check-in activity. Offer is subject to availability at the time of booking. Offer cannot be combined with any other offers or packages unless otherwise specified. Normal occupancy and cancelation policies apply. Hilton Worldwide and Visa reserve the right, in its sole discretion, to withdraw, cancel, modify, amend, suspend or terminate the offer, in whole or in part, in any way, at any time, for any reason, without prior notice or any liability to any person.

Saw this earlier but had the impression it was for US-issued cards only – don’t see the offer when selecting Asia Pacific at http://www.visaluxuryhotelcollection.com

That said, I’ll probably be contacting the Visa concierge sometime later this week to check on this anyway – but if anyone else knows for sure before then, please do confirm! =)

Asia Pacific definitely enjoys the promo as well. The right link for AP is https://www.visaluxuryhotels.com/special-offers. Play around with the filters on the left and you will definitely see the hotels with the Stay 2 offers. I just booked the Waldorf Shanghai and got the promo with the booking. I would have to say the Four Seasons Koh Samui is my current favourite beach property. I have stayed at the Alila Soori which I don’t think compares to the Four Seasons Samui in terms of luxury. I haven’t tried the Conrad due to the mixed reviews on the food. Do check… Read more »

Awesome! Time for me to go shopping…

Hmm. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, but the only ‘Stay 2’ offers I see give extra dining credit, not free nights…

Could have sworn I’d seen the Hilton offers just last night!

I guess the US$936 in “Take 50% off that and you’re looking at US$936, or S$1,278 for 2 nights” is a typo.

kt

I don’t see it too. I am at the website, played with the left filter, click on free nights, but do not see such a promotion.

I used that site in the end too, but technically that’s for the US card. Was able to make a reservation on it, though.

To be safe, I might email the property beforehand to confirm that they’re OK with the rate. And will stick to cancellable rates in the meantime in case reports of problems pop up.

Louis Tan

Further update – was experimenting with the site. It wouldn’t accept my Visa Platinum or Visa Infinite (ironically enough) card numbers, but was able to make a booking with a Singapore-issued Visa Signature.

Since the online system itself seems to be the gateway for ensuring only eligible cardholders make the booking, think if the system accepts your card number, you’re good!

mm

Anyone knows if the usual hotel elite member benefits will be applicable for such bookings?

Louis Tan

Based on what I’ve read online, yes. You can also key in your HHonors number so it does appear under your reservation listing – benefits should apply, then.
