Restaurant reservation app Chope now lets you earn KrisFlyer miles

Make reservations, earn Krisflyer miles

Chope is a restaurant reservation app that lets you secure tables at restaurants in Singapore, Bali, Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Phuket and Shanghai. It’s more or less our version of OpenTable.

When you make bookings through Chope, you earn something called Chope Dollars (CD). Most restaurants give 100 CD per reservation, and you can redeem them for dining vouchers at the following rate:

  • 400 CD- $10 voucher
  • 700 CD- $20 voucher
  • 1,000 CD- $30 voucher

The interesting thing is that your Chope Dollars are global, and can be redeemed at participating restaurants in all cities except Phuket. Chope Dollars expire two years after issuance.

In addition to gift vouchers, Chope has recently added Krisflyer as a redemption partner. You can now convert 1,200 Chope Dollars to 1,000 Krisflyer miles. That’s roughly $36 worth of dining vouchers, so it’s not an option I’d immediately jump on but useful to have nonetheless. Remember that Chope awards points on a per reservation basis, not based on how much you actually spend at the restaurant.

You can sign up for Chope here and get 300 bonus Chope Dollars upon your first fulfilled reservation.

As far as I know, there is nothing stopping you from using Chope with Mileslife where both are supported by the restaurant (I imagine that must take quite a bite (pun!) out of the restaurant’s earnings though), so if you should be on the lookout for such opportunities.
