Waldorf Astoria now offers complimentary breakfast to Hilton Gold/Diamond members

Waldorf Astoria, the flagship brand of Hilton's portfolio, begins offering complimentary breakfast from 1 Jan 2018.

Great news for Hilton fans – Waldorf Astoria, the flagship brand of Hilton’s portfolio, has begun offering complimentary breakfast to Hilton Gold and Diamond members. Here’s what was announced on FlyerTalk:

Starting January 1, all Waldorf Astoria properties will offer complimentary continental breakfast or an equivalent Food & Beverage credit for all Gold and Diamond members (and one guest) as part of the MyWay benefit option.

This is especially welcome because Waldorf Astoria is supposed to be the luxury line within the Hilton portfolio, and previously all you really get for being an elite member (even a diamond) when staying there was an upgrade to a ‘preferred room’, complimentary water, and a choice between 1,000 extra points (per stay) or an in-room movie.

*cue slow clap*

I’ve only been to Waldorf Astoria Orlando myself; since that was before I’d started doing trip reports, all I have to show for it is a picture of some delicious chocolate-coated strawberries they’d provided during the stay.

For a glimpse of what breakfast at a Waldorf might actually look like, I’d point you to Lucky’s review of Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem over at OMAAT. A list of which properties offer continental breakfast (ick), full breakfast, or $15 F&B credit is available on the Hilton website.

Unfortunately, the bulk of Waldorf Astoria properties are currently situated within North America. In Asia, the properties are mostly located within China (specifically Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu), though more are slated to be opened in the next few years.

On the horizon – Waldorf Astoria Bangkok

The property I’m personally most excited about would be Waldorf Astoria Bangkok. It’s currently accepting reservations from 1 Aug 2018 from ฿9,500 (~S$400) or 62,000 Hilton Honors points for a standard room.

Assuming no further delays (it’d once been anticipated to open in 2015), perhaps we’ll be seeing our very first Waldorf review on the Milelion sometime soon?

Griffles is mostly busy with entertaining a toddler these days, but still manages to continues amusing (and confusing) air stewardesses, hotel staff (and just about everybody else) all around the world.
