Transfer Marriott points to Etihad Guest miles with a 20% bonus

Etihad Guest is currently running a promotion where if you transfer points from another loyalty program into Etihad Guest miles, you will receive a 20% bonus on all transferred miles.

You have from now until 31 October 2018 to transfer your points into Etihad Guest miles. The bonus points will be posted into your Etihad Guest account within 15 days from 31 October 2018.

Transfer Marriott points to Etihad miles for a bigger bonus

Under this promotion, only points transferred from select loyalty programs are eligible to receive this bonus. Here’s the list of programs which are eligible for the 20% bonus:

Of these, transferring Marriott points will yield the most value. 3 points in the new Marriott program yield 1 Etihad Guest miles. If you transfer points to miles in Marriott, for every 60,000 points transferred Marriott will award an additional 15,000 points (5,000 miles) into your frequent flyer account.

Let’s say you choose to transfer exactly 60,000 points from your Marriott account into Etihad Guest miles, this will give you:

1. 20,000 Etihad Guest miles from the 60,000 points converted
2. 5,000 bonus Etihad Guest miles courtesy of Marriott
3. 5,000 bonus Etihad Guest miles from the 20% bonus given by Etihad

Giving you a total of 30,000 Etihad Guest miles from transferring 60,000 points.

Etihad Guest is quite a nifty program as it has many different airline partners like American Airlines and Bangkok Airways from which you can get excellent redemption value from them.

Concluding Thoughts

While some might value their hotel points dearly since they are harder to obtain, this is still a decent promotion that Etihad is running for its Etihad Guest members.

There’s also the option of converting points from other programs into Etihad Guest miles but transferring points from Marriott gives the best value in my opinion.
