A guide to Singapore Work From Hotel Packages

Last Updated:

Can't work from home? Why not work from hotel? Here's your guide to all the deals and packages on offer in Singapore.

If the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that working from home isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

Foxtrot by Bill Amend

Sure, it’s great to cut your commute from an hour to roughly 10 seconds, and take Zoom calls in various states of undress, but there’s something to be said about physically separating your work space and resting space. Moreover, it’s not like home is free of distractions either: think kids, pets, and the ever-present temptation to goof off.

For those craving a change of scenery and willing to pay for the privilege, Singapore hotels are offering a way out:

Work From Hotel: Private Rooms

The following properties are offering work from hotel packages, which give you a private room and access to the hotel’s facilities.

Although they’re ostensibly marketed as “work from hotel”, there’s of course nothing stopping you from using these as a daycation of sorts. Just note that some hotels explicitly specify a maximum of one guest per room (although I find it hard to see how they’d enforce this in practice, so long as you’re not hosting an inordinate amount of people).

Before you book any of these, however, it’s best practice to run a quick search for the nightly rate the hotel is quoting for the date in question. In some cases (e.g Hilton Singapore), day rates can be 70-80% what you’d pay for an overnight stay.

Conclusion

While working from a hotel is not the most economical way of going about things, it can still be a nice escape for those who need to get out of the house.

Do remember to compare the Work From Hotel packages with the nightly rates the hotel is charging, because in some cases, it may make more sense to just go the whole hog and make a staycation out of it.

Is there free breafast/happy hours for platinum members?

cheesecake

Lyf removing mattress from room is just… petty. Why should hotels discriminate against people who do their best work lying down?

Matthew Chong

or work with a 1hr work, 3 hr nap cycle.

Dexter

My guess is that they have excluded the price of washing and changing sheets etc from the WFH price. Only way to guarantee people don’t use it is to take it out. Also if they didn’t take it out and didn’t change sheets between WFH they could risk falling foul of laws around cleaning between occupants.

Higher end hotels might have bundled the costs of cleaning the room as if someone stayed in it even for WFH, but lower cost ones might unbundled the services to be more competitive on price.

Thanks to Aaron, I’ve booked my st Regis stay for my flat’s electricity shutdown day
