Citi PremierMiles Visa 30K sign up offer extended till 30 June

New-to-bank customers who spend $7.5K in the first 3 months of approval can get up to 30,000 miles. Plus, get $300 NTUC/Taka/Grab vouchers if you sign up via SingSaver.

Back in August 2018, Citibank began offering a 30K miles sign up offer for the Citi PremierMiles Visa. This offer was originally supposed to lapse on 31 October 2018, but kept getting extended.

The latest deadline was 31 May 2019, but it seems that Citi has decided to extend the offer once again till 30 June 2019.

Here’s how the offer works

New-to-bank customers

New-to-bank customers (defined as those who do not currently hold a principal Citibank credit card and have not in the past 12 months) have a choice of one of the following options:

Annual Fee OptionNo Annual Fee Option
Spending requirement (first 3 months)$7.5K$3K
Base miles earned @ 1.2 mpd9K3.6K
Bonus miles earned for meeting spending requirement11K6.4K
Miles from $192.60 annual fee10KN/A
Total miles 30K10K
Sign up by30 Jun 1931 Dec 19
T&CLinkLink

Do note that the “true” sign up bonus is 11K/6.4K miles, as the base miles and annual fee miles would be due to you anyway for spending/paying the annual fee, even if you weren’t a new-to-bank customer.

If approved for the card, you have until the third calendar month after approval (not including the month of approval) to complete your spending. For example, if you receive approval on 3 June 2019, you need to hit the $7.5K spending by 30 September 2019. Therefore, if you think you need a bit more time to hit the threshold, it’s better to apply early in the month.

If you apply for a Citi PremierMiles Visa card through SingSaver as a new-to-bank customer, you’ll get $300 of NTUC/Grab/Taka vouchers. You can win bonus cash too as part of the ongoing Battle of the Cards competition- read here for more details.

Existing customers

Existing Citibank customers also have a choice of sign up offers for the Citi PremierMiles Visa card. You can (a) opt to have your first year annual fee waived, or (b) pay the annual fee, spend $7.5K in the first 3 months and get

  • 9K base miles on the $7.5K base spend
  • 4K bonus miles for meeting the spending threshold
  • 10K miles for paying the $192.60 annual fee
  • S$100 Kaligo e-voucher

Do note that the S$100 Kaligo e-voucher is only valid for stays of a minimum of 2 nights. This offer is valid for applications till 30 June 19, and the full T&C of this offer can be found here.

SingSaver is offering $30 of Grab/NTUC/Taka vouchers for existing customers as part of the ongoing Battle of the Cards. Be sure to check it out here.

If you apply through SingSaver as an existing customer, you will only be eligible for the fee waiver option. If you want the S$100 Kaligo e-voucher and 4K bonus miles, you’ll need to apply via Citi’s official website

Why earn points with Citibank?

The Citibank PremierMiles card earns 1.2 mpd on local spend and 2.0 mpd on overseas spending. You also enjoy 3, 7 and 10 mpd on bookings made with Expedia, Agoda and Kaligo respectively (Kaligo has upsized this to 12 mpd for bookings made by 31 July)

Citibank points do not pool, which is to say that if you’ve accumulated points on the Citi Prestige or Citi Rewards card, those points won’t be pooled with your Citi PremierMiles Visa and you’ll need to pay a separate conversion fee for each card.

However, Citibank has the widest selection of partner airlines available to any bank in Singapore, which includes some pretty useful FFPs like Etihad Guest, as well as British Airways Avios. Citi Miles do not expire.

How does this compare to other ongoing sign up bonuses?

You can refer to this page to see a summary of all the ongoing sign up bonuses in the market. As of today, the following cards are running a sign up bonus:

Which offer you ultimately pick depends on how you feel about paying an annual fee and how much you see yourself spending over the next 3 months.

Conclusion

Citibank’s continual extension of this offer may suggest it could be the new business-as-usual scenario, at least until another bank comes out with something more compelling.

30,000 miles would be enough for two people to fly round-trip Economy to Bali, and although that shouldn’t be the height of your ambition in the miles and points game, it’s a decent start.

Do PayAll transactions count towards the limit?

What bonus

Depends on which cso you speak to. Excluded transactions also depend on the cso. Have fun trying to get the bonus miles.
