GrabPay Mastercard offering bonus 10X points on Lazada

This weekend, earn a bonus 10X GrabRewards points per S$1 spent at Lazada, capped at S$200 and one transaction.

Grab users should have received a push notification in their app about a Lazada promotion running this weekend.

From 27-29 March 2020, GrabPay Mastercard users can earn a bonus of 10X GrabRewards points per S$1 spent at Lazada, with a minimum spend of S$50. This is on top of the base points usually earned, so Platinum members are looking at 14X points per S$1.

Unfortunately, GrabRewards points aren’t what they used to be, after the massive GrabRewards devaluation and the unannounced devaluation of KrisFlyer miles conversions.

It now costs 550 GrabRewards points to get a S$1 Grab voucher, and 10 GrabRewards points to earn 1 KrisFlyer mile. Therefore, the bonus points on Lazada represent an additional ~2% rebate- better than nothing, but not life-changing.

That said, I’ve emphasized many times that GrabRewards and credit card points are not an either/or proposition (yet). Since it’s still possible to earn credit card points for GrabPay top-ups with cards, you can stack the two and earn up to 5.4 mpd on Lazada- 4 mpd from the bank for the top-up, and 1.4 mpd from GrabRewards for the spending.

Other points to note

Take note of the following before you pull the trigger: the offer is only valid for one transaction per user, and the bonus points are capped at 2,000 per user, or S$200 of spending. Furthermore, it’s only applicable to orders on Lazada- no RedMart orders and no Lazada wallet top-ups.

Remember to use your virtual GrabPay card to make payment. Bonus points will be credited to your account by 5 April 2020, and do not count towards elite tier progression.

Conclusion

If you were intending to do some online shopping this weekend, you might as well pay with your virtual GrabPay card. 4 mpd on GrabPay top-ups may not have long to go, so enjoy it while you still can.
