Get a 100% bonus when you buy above 5,000 IHG Rewards Club points

To trigger the 100% bonus, you will have to purchase a minimum of 5,000 IHG Rewards Club points. The maximum allowable points you can purchase each calendar year is 100,000 IHG Rewards Club points pre-bonus. If you max out the number of miles you are able to purchase in this promotion, you’ll be purchasing IHG Rewards Club points at a cost of US$1,000 for 200,000 IHG Rewards Club points. That would bring your cost per point to US 0.5 cents per point.

Unlock cheap nights at PointsBreak hotels

IHG is currently holding its PointsBreak promotion as well where nights at participating hotels start as low as 5,000 IHG Rewards Club points. This promotion runs until 31 July 2018 and stays have to be booked and completed by then.

By now, the list of available hotels with PointsBreak rooms on sale might be rather limited but do check it out to see if any of those hotels may suit your travel plans. You can read more about the current IHG PointsBreak promotion here.

Stay at higher end IHG properties for less

Purchasing IHG Rewards Club points can also help to unlock cheaper nights at luxurious properties. Take the example of the InterContinental London Park Lane on the dates of 16-17 August 2018. Paid non-refundable rates are going for around US$542 per night for a Superior Room. But should you pay for your stay with points purchased from this sale, your effective cost per night would be US$350 per night at a redemption rate of 70,000 points per night. Remember also that most hotels have a 24 hour cancellation policy for points reservations (although individual properties can impose more strict policies at their discretion, so be sure to read the fine print).

Concluding Thoughts

If you are planning a stay at an IHG property, consider looking at the option of purchasing IHG Rewards Club points to see if your stay could be had for cheaper. At US 0.5 cents per point, this is the lowest rate we’ve seen IHG sell points at so now’s a good time to get yourself some IHG Rewards Club points.
