Every once in a while a deal comes along that seems a bit too good to be true. But that’s what Chris Chamberlin over at AusBT has found- a way of getting unlimited inflight WiFi with 28 different airlines for as low as S$16.70 per month.
The full details of how to sign up and log in can be found over in his article (it’s fairly straightforward), but to summarise, there’s an app called CPHTravelWiFi that gives you access to more than 60 million WiFi hotspots across 120 countries.
That includes 780 airports, 800 trains and 90,000 hotels, a substantial list in and of itself.
In addition to giving you WiFi on the ground (which can already be hugely useful if you’re traveling to a country where logistics make it difficult to get a prepaid sim card), CPHTravelWiFi gives you access to unlimited inflight internet on Singapore Airlines and 27 other carriers listed below

I find Singapore Airline’s WiFi pricing to be infuriatingly customer unfriendly, so this is a welcome discovery. With the exception of a few aircraft using the T-Mobile all you can eat time-based plans, the rest of SQ’s OnAir WiFi equipped aircraft charge volume-based plans (US$19.99 for 50MB…in 2017???) which you’ll burn through in no time flat.
The cost? I’ve taken the liberty of converting the prices to SGD in the image below. Even if you were to buy the cheapest 1 month pass at S$23.60, it’d still be cheaper than paying US$19.99 for 50MB of lousy data with SQ.
As per the AusBT article, this plan is valid for use on up to three devices simultaneously, unlike most airline Wi-Fi plans that limit you to one device at a time (I couldn’t find this on the website, but I assume they know something I don’t).
I’m definitely going to sign up for this on 1 October as soon as my monthly DBS Woman’s Card cap resets, and I’d encourage you to take a serious look at it too. I have to admit I have my suspicions because a deal like this feels too good to be true, but we’ll see. Perhaps the catch is that the site seems to be rejecting credit cards from certain countries, as per this FT thread. I’ll try it for myself and let you know.

Actually if it uses iPass, if I’m right as long as the carrier uses GOGO or Panasonic powered by T-Mo, it should work. ONAIR doesn’t. For in the case of SQ, I think their A380 still uses ONAIR, so it might not work with this. However if you’re on SQ’s A350 or 777-300ER it should work.
It is Ipass. I have it from my work. It works on LH. On SQ it _says_ that it works, but when I actually tried to use it on SIN-CPT flight it hangs up after 2-3 min trying.
So, YMMV.
I used the iPass on China Airlines A350 few weeks back, works great. However need to go to the portal first using Safari and enter that capcha before the iPass app can authenticate

Authentication should be done via iPass and if so, US Mobile has a better deal – just US$10 a month (https://www.usmobile.com/wifi). VFTW had a reader’s special deal (US$6 a month) a couple months back I think.

i tried it on SQ’s a350 and could not get it to work. I will be flying Qatar a350 soon and will try again then.
