Back in March 2024, all the Kris+ medical and dental practitioners quietly disappeared from the app, including major health screening providers like Fullerton Health and Minmed Group.
Needless to say, this was a big blow for the platform. Given that treatments and screenings can easily run into the four digits, and earning some extra miles would certainly help lower your blood pressure.

But over the past few months, there have been reports that even though these practitioners are no longer listed, some still accept Kris+ payments nonetheless. So I did a little digging, and the good news is that you can still earn Kris+ miles on healthcare- just on the side.
Why were healthcare providers removed from Kris+?
The following is based on hearsay and conjecture (hearsay and conjecture, on the internet???), so take it with a pinch of salt.
At the start of 2024, someone ratted out the Kris+ healthcare providers to MOH (cue the sinkie pwn sinkie comments), and a reminder was sent out of their obligations under the SMC Ethical Code and Ethical Guidelines, in particular those on advertising.
Section G, G.2 (6) reads:
(6) You must not offer financial inducements such as free or discounted examinations or treatments (outside of legitimate non-commercial health promotion activities). You must not lure patients through time-limited special offers, tie-ups with unrelated commercial entities (such as credit cards) or offering gifts or other material incentives, to persuade them to take up your services. You must not offer medical services and products as prizes or gifts in any context. |
I suppose it could be argued that a Kris+ listing constitutes a tie-up with an unrelated commercial entity that’s meant to persuade take up. I mean, no one’s saying “Smile wider with 10 mpd on root canals!”, but let’s not play games; it’s quite clear why a healthcare provider would want to partner with Kris+.
So these providers had a decision to make, and most chose to play it safe by withdrawing from Kris+ entirely.
But there’s no prohibition on accepting payments via Kris+ per se; the prohibition is on advertising. Therefore, a couple of providers decided to stay on Kris+, but without a listing in the app and no in-clinic marketing materials. Patients who visit the clinics have to specifically request to pay via Kris+, upon which the QR code will be produced for scanning (almost like a speakeasy!).
Based on a few field visits and phone calls, here’s the list of Kris+ healthcare providers and whether or not they still accept Kris+.

What’s the best card to use here?
Minmed Group and Smilepoint Dental code as MCC 8099 and MCC 8021 respectively, and while there’s no bonuses for these MCCs as such, the fact that they’re online and made through Kris+ lets you earn up to 4 mpd with the following cards.

Conclusion
Kris+ no longer lists any healthcare practitioners in the app, but Minmed Group and Smilepoint Dental continue to accept payments upon request with an earn rate of up to 6 mpd, plus credit card miles.
Given the restrictions on advertising and the possibility of running into trouble with the authorities, however, I think it’s unlikely we’ll see any new additions for this category- which is a shame!
