You wouldn’t put all your money in one investment. So why should all your miles be in one frequent flyer program?
If you don’t know your Mileage Plan from your MileagePlus or your Miles & Smiles from your Miles & More, you need to learn about Alternative Frequent Flyer Programs. Here, we’ll identify sweet spots, demystify program rules, show some lesser-known tricks and explain which program to use for what destination. Course Outline: Alternative Frequent Flyer Programs
Although travelers in Singapore can earn miles in more than 30 different frequent flyer programs, the large majority invariably put everything in KrisFlyer.
Thereโs nothing wrong with that per se (and as we show in Advanced KrisFlyer, there is some good value to be had), ut knowing a different frequent flyer program can be extremely useful because
- Saver awards canโt always be found on KrisFlyer, meaning you have to resort to more expensive Star Alliance/Advantage awards
- Star Alliance might not provide the best connectivity within the region youโre heading (e.g Middle East, Russia)
- A different program may have an amazing sweet spot forย a particular destination
- A different program may have a unique trick to save you tons of miles
In Alternative Frequent Flyer programs, we seek to answer the question โwhere does the good value lie outside of KrisFlyer?โ Weโll cover:
- The best way to earn points in frequent flyer programs other than KrisFlyer
- What to consider when choosing an alternative frequent flyer program
- In-depth tricks and tips galore from other programs, including
- United Mileageplusโ awesome Excursionist Perk
- Great value short haul awards with British Airways Avios
- A little quirk with Aegean Miles and Bonus (hint: how well do you know your Stans?)
- The multi-carrier award bonanza of Asia Miles
- Familiar favorites such as LifeMiles, Mileage Plan and many more!
- Which frequent flyer programs are probablyย notย worth your time
Once youโve finished this module, youโll know exactly which program to use depending on where youโre going- and in doing so, further stretch your hard-earned miles and points!
Look forward to seeing everyone there!
