Vouchers have different validity periods, so do read the fine print carefully.

If you’re a UOB cardholder, it’s possible to enjoy a further S$15 off these vouchers from 10 September to 9 November 2020. This is limited to the first 400 purchases each month, and capped at one redemption per eligible card.

Which deals are worth it?

Fairmont King Room
Fairmont King Room

2 nights at the Fairmont for S$448 nett with breakfast is a better deal than the hotel’s official staycation package. The latter costs S$359 nett, with breakfast and S$100 of F&B vouchers, while the former works out to S$224 nett per night. Even if you take the F&B vouchers at face value, you’re better off with Trip.com.

A weekday night at the Amara Sanctuary Resort on Sentosa for S$271 nett through Trip.com is cheaper than the official website (S$335 nett). You can add on breakfast for a very reasonable S$20++ per adult.

The Shangri-La for S$300 nett with breakfast is generally a good option, especially since you’ll be upgraded to the Garden Wing from now till the end of the year (as the Tower Wing is currently being used for SHN).

Otherwise, the Orchard Hotel at S$200 nett is a good deal for those who want a more mid-priced option. You’ll save about S$35 or so from the cheapest rate on the public website.

YOTEL Orchard
YOTEL Orchard

For a budget-friendly choice, pick the YOTEL Orchard at S$159 nett. Rooms will be small (though not as small as the YOTELAIR Changi), but at that price for Orchard Road it’s hard to argue.

Don’t bother with Raffles or Capitol Kempinski; it’s possible to book both of these for less on the official website. The Capitol Kempinski, in particular, is running a sensational deal from S$319 nett for a breakfast-inclusive rate with F&B credits. That runs till 22 October, so do poke around and see what dates are left.

Conclusion

Once again, any unused Trip.com voucher can be cancelled for free, provided you haven’t applied the voucher towards a booking- once you have, there’s no refunds. This means that if the hotel subsequently launches a better deal (or if you’re not able to book the dates you want), you have a hedge.

The latest list of staycation approved hotels features more than 210 properties, so you’re bound to find something you like in there.

Actually, Fairmont’s direct deal ain’t half bad, because they’re offering the second night for 50% off the promo rate with no frills/freebies. Parking’s also covered for the first night if you book direct, and the weekday rate is about $28-$30 for parking at Raffles City (weekends are a different rate). We booked 2nights with them in their Signature King Suite for $591nett. For that rate, we get breakfast for 4 for one morning, a larger room option than advertised anywhere (helps to ask), an extra bed for the two little buggers, free parking for the first night, $100 F&B and… Read more »
