New Marriott Rewards members get one free night after two stays

Make two stays by 28 Jan 2019 to earn your free night certificate.

So Starwood and Marriott are finally one entity, and although the dust hasn’t fully settled from the merger, things are slowly coming together. I’ve been meaning to write an article about my whole experience with the merger (tl;dr: St Regis Maldives didn’t happen but I got a pretty nifty consolation prize…), but in the meantime here’s a promotion that some of you new to the hotels game may be interested in.

If you’re not an existing member of Marriott Rewards, you can earn a free night certificate when you make two paid stays at any Marriott/Starwood property from now till 28 January 2019.

Your free night certificate is valid at hotels costing up to 25,000 points a night. That’s good for a hotel up to Category 4, as the chart below shows:

You can look for other Category 4 (or any category for that matter) properties here– simply enter “4” in the search box and they’ll pop up.

Need some inspiration? Both the Four Points by Sheraton Riverview and the Wanderlust Hotel In Singapore are Category 4 properties.

Le Meridien Bali

Elsewhere in the region, you have the Westin Siray Bay, Le Meridien Bali, W Bangkok, Westin Bangkok, Sheraton Grand Taipei, Le Royal Meridien Shanghai, Courtyard Hong Kong, Sheraton Seoul Palace Gangnam all at Category 4 as well.

Your free night certificate will be deposited in your Marriott Rewards account after you complete the second stay, and is valid for 1 year from date of issue. Since this promotion is based on stays rather than nights, I’d highly recommend looking for a cluster of Marriott/Starwood hotels located close to each other (Bangkok is a great city for this, and I’m sure there are others) and alternating between properties to earn your cert quickly.

This promotion is only valid for new Marriott Rewards members who sign up via this link, and I wouldn’t risk registering a new account just to take advantage of this promotion. That said, if you’re new to hotel loyalty, this is a great way to get started.
