What’s rarer than astatine, an amur leopard, or baby hair on my scalp?

A UOB sign-up bonus without a “first X” cap, of course, and now we have one on our hands.

UOB PRVI Miles offering 12,000 miles sign-up bonus

From now till 31 July 2022, new-to-bank UOB PRVI Miles Card members can enjoy 12,000 bonus miles when they spend S$1,500 within the first 30 days of approval.

❓ New-to-bank
New-to-bank customers are defined as those who do not currently hold a principal UOB credit card, and have not cancelled one within the past 6 months prior to 1 July 2022

This offer applies to all three flavours of the UOB PRVI Miles Card, namely:

As mentioned, there is no cap on the number of eligible applicants. So long as you meet the other eligibility criteria, you will receive the 12,000 bonus miles.

UOB markets the offer as “up to 21,000 miles”, which is a tad bit optimistic if you ask me. It’s based on the assumption you clock the entire S$1,500 qualifying spend on Expedia, Agoda, or UOB Travel, which earns 6 mpd.

In a more realistic scenario, you’ll clock that S$1,500 on local SGD spending, which would earn 2,100 miles (@ 1.4 mpd) for a grand total of 14,100 miles. But in any case, the real headline here is 12,000 bonus miles, which is not too shabby for S$1,500 of spend!

The full T&C for this offer can be found here.

When will I receive the bonus miles?

UOB will award the 12,000 bonus miles in two batches:

  • 4,500 UNI$ (equivalent to 9,000 miles)
  • 1,500 UNI$ (equivalent to 3,000 miles)

This will take place by 31 October 2022.

As a reminder, UOB UNI$ can be converted to either KrisFlyer or Asia Miles at a 1 UNI$= 2 miles ratio, with a S$25 conversion fee.

What counts as qualifying spend?

A minimum of S$1,500 in qualifying spend must be spent in the first 30 days of approval. Eligible transactions include all retail transactions in local or foreign currency, and a full list of exclusions can be found here.

The key exclusions to highlight are:

  • Charitable donations
  • Education
  • Government payments
  • Hospitals
  • Insurance
  • Prepaid account top-ups (e.g. GrabPay or YouTrip)
  • Utilities (even though you will continue to earn base points on these transactions until 1 August 2022)

All spending on supplementary cards will be pooled with the principal card when determining if the minimum spend has been met.

Extra S$30 cash for supplementary cards

UOB is currently offering a S$20 cash credit for the first 300 cardmembers who apply for a supplementary card and make at least three eligible transactions of any amount within the first month.

If you have a UOB PRVI Miles Mastercard supplementary card in particular, you will receive a further S$10 cash credit when making at least three eligible transactions of any amount within the first month, with no cap on eligibility.

The T&C of this offer can be found here.

Conclusion

A UOB sign-up bonus without pesky gotcha terms? I must be dreaming. But this offer is real enough, and there’ll be no rolling of the dice wondering whether you’ll get your bonus miles.

If you don’t already have a UOB credit card (and haven’t cancelled one in the past six months), this is a great opportunity to pick up 12,000 bonus miles for a relatively low S$1,500 spend.
