American Express is offering cardholders a complimentary upgrade to Sixt Platinum status, the highest publicly-available tier in the Sixt loyalty programme (the highest tier, Diamond, is by invitation only).
This only takes a minute to register for, and could mean a discount and nice upgrade on your next car rental.
Complimentary Sixt Platinum status with AMEX
Sixt Platinum Upgrade |
American Express Cardholders can now register for a Sixt Platinum membership via the link above. Status will be granted instantly, but it’s unclear how long it’s valid for- my profile doesn’t state an expiry date.
Do note that this offer is only available to American Express Cards issued by licensed third parties. In other words, American Express-issued cards like the AMEX Platinum Charge or AMEX KrisFlyer Ascend would not be eligible, but the following would be:
- DBS Altitude AMEX
- DBS Takashimaya AMEX
- DBS Treasures Black Elite Card
- DBS yuu AMEX
- UOB Absolute Cashback Card
- UOB PRVI Miles AMEX
However, Sixt has a very generous status matching programme, so if you have Avis President’s Club status courtesy of the AMEX Platinum Charge, you can convert that into Sixt Platinum easily.
If you’re reading this outside of Singapore, American Express cards issued by licensed third parties in the following countries are also eligible.

I tried the first eight digits of a DBS Takashimaya AMEX (3779 1122) and was accepted.
In the off chance that you’re a KrisFlyer Elite Gold, PPS Club or Solitaire PPS Club member, you can also enjoy an instant match to Sixt Platinum.
What can you expect as a Sixt Platinum member?
Sixt Platinum status normally requires 10 rentals per year, and members receive the following benefits:
- Counter service and parking access
- Complimentary upgrade on eligible rentals, subject to availability
- Up to 15% discount on eligible vehicles at SIXT locations, subject to availability
- Free additional driver for all rentals in the U.S. (for U.S. residents only)
- Birthday surprise
I’ve been a Sixt Platinum for a long time now (thanks to various status giveaways rather than rental activity), and my experiences with the chain have thus far been great. I tend to find that they have newer vehicles than other rental car companies (especially in the USA), and are also more generous with the upgrades.
You can read about my experiences with Sixt in Miami.
Conclusion
American Express cardholders can now get instant Sixt Platinum status, which comes with discounts and upgrades on car rentals.
Even if you don’t hold an AMEX card, Sixt is in the habit of giving away Platinum status via various matches so it shouldn’t be too hard to google for a solution.
I tried registering with my UOB Amex Prvimiles front 8 digits but was not accepted. Any advise on how to get through ?
read through the article, there are already 8 digits given for you to grab the chance.
Sixt was one of the first rental companies to cancel all car orders worldwide at the beginning of Covid and until today struggles backfilling its aging fleet.
Lowering expectations vs 2017 would be advised ๐
+1
Itโs hard to find 2017 car rental prices today.
Minimum Sixt rental prices are at least us$100 for rental out of major airports (PHX).
I did a rental with them from Melbourne in June, and was happy with the new GLB that we got.
I have been Platinum for a while, never got a single upgrade despite an extensive track record with them
I haven’t had a good experience with sixt. Not in the US, France or Australia in the past 3 4 years.
I find it easier/cheaper to get a car rental via other search platforms
Hi aaron what credit card did you use for your sixt payment care to share?
I and my friends have exactly the same experience as others here with never getting Sixt upgrades with Platinum
Hertz and Avis are much more generous so we dont use Sixt .
Maybe Sixt will figure it out one day but I doubt it.
