Louis, one of our guestwriters, will be hosting a free workshop on miles and points as part of The School of Uncommon Knowledge.
Date: 25th November (Friday)
Time: 7-9pm
Location: The Substation
The material will be targeted more towards newcomers to the miles game, so don’t expect things like 3X, chainsaws/gummybears or MS. Instead, expect primers on things like how rewards programs work, why miles instead of cashback, general and specialized/category spending cards, buying miles through annual fees etc etc.
Here’s a description from the official page–
Flying on business class is very expensive; first class obscenely so. However, with optimised credit card usage, premium air travel can be made accessible to even the average Singaporean. Playing the Miles Game examines the basics of maximising accumulation of air miles through credit card spend in Singapore. By the end of the session, you will be sufficiently equipped to begin your journey towards redeeming your very own premium class air tickets.
All classes in A Home for the Arts run on barter. When registering please select one (or more) of the following that you would like to give in exchange for the class.
Bring one ‘lobang’ (offer) to share with the class (e.g. app referral code, discount code, news of sale)

Remember, it doesn’t cost anything to attend. Just bring a listening ear and something to share with the class.
I’m not sure about my travel schedule but if I’m in town on the day I’ll definitely be dropping by. If any readers want to meet up, I think this would be a great forum to do so. You can leave a message below (or on the FB group) if you’re planning to attend.
Just signed up! See you there!
bummer … traveling. hopefully next time
I’m not in town too! Sad.
Just signed up! Can’t wait!
This might be awkward, but what happens if I really do not have something to barter trade but come and attend with a humble heart? 🙂
Sure, couldn’t really think of something to trade so the lobang thing is just something I randomly came up with.
Please feel free to sign up, come and add to the discussion! That can be your contribution already. 🙂
Thanks for the write-up , Aaron!
For those who are interested, can check out the other free/barter classes at The Substation this month. Some other weird and quirky stuff on the list. I’ve signed up for the one on designing an escape room. =P
Finally, for those who’re attending – if there are any questions you’ve been wondering about, feel free to raise them before the workshop and I’ll do my best to address them!
Signed up!
