Get S$300 cash when you sign up for a Citi card by 31 Dec 2019 (new-to-bank customers)

SingSaver has increased the sign up gift for Citibank cards by 50%; new-to-bank customers now get S$300 cash.

From now 31 December 2019, new-to-bank customers who sign up for a Citibank credit card through SingSaver will receive S$300 cash upon approval. Existing customers will get S$30 cash.

Citibank defines new-to-bank as customers who do not currently hold a principal Citi card, and have not in the past 12 months

The following cards are eligible for this promotion.

  Income Requirement Annual Fee
Citi Cash Back Card

S$30,000 S$192.60 (first year free)
Citi PremierMiles Visa
Apply here for first year free
Apply here for 40K miles offer
S$30,000 S$192.60 (first year free, or pay annual fee to be eligible for 40,000 miles sign up bonus)
Citi Rewards Visa

S$30,000 S$192.60 (first year free)
Citi Prestige
Apply here
S$120,000 S$535

By way of reference, SingSaver’s new-to-bank gift for Citi cards is usually S$200, although we see S$250 offered periodically as well. S$300 is relatively more rare- the last time we had a S$300 offer was during 11/11, and that was limited to the first 50 approved applications. There’s no cap this time round; so long as your application comes in before 31 December 2019, you’ll get the cash upon approval.

If you’ve been eyeing the Citi Prestige for a while, then getting S$300 off the S$535 annual fee is a very good deal. You’ll get 25,000 miles (effectively paying 0.94 cents per mile), an unlimited visit Priority Pass with one guest, the fourth night free on any hotel booking, plus other perks like airport limo transfers (unfortunately nerfed in April this year) and 1 for 1 dining offers.

Otherwise, the S$300 can help you offset the Citi PremierMiles Visa’s S$192.60 annual fee, which you’ll need to pay if you want the 40,000 miles sign up offer. This requires spending S$9,000 in the first 3 months of approval, so check to see if you have any big ticket expenditures coming up (Citi PayAll can be used to hit the minimum spend requirement).

I’m aware that the 40K miles offer consists of 13,500 miles from spending S$9K @ 1.5 mpd. However, the 1.5 mpd offer is valid for spending until 31 Dec 2019, after which it reverts to 1.2 mpd. I’m checking with Citi how this affects the 40K miles offer, and will update when I hear back.

If you want the 40,000 miles sign up bonus, be sure to sign up using the 40K miles offer link!

Conclusion

Cash gifts take up to 3 months to be fulfilled, but are done so via PayNow (so there’s no need to travel to a physical collection centre). Be sure to watch your email for SingSaver’s rewards form, which you’ll need to fill to receive your gift.

What if you have a citibank debit card but no credit card yet? Are you considered new to bank.

Ali

I applied for the Citi Premiermiles Visa and used Singpass to pre-fill my info. “Name on card” was filled in per my NRIC and could not be changed, so that was annoying. Looking forward to the cash reward though, thanks!

Same, filled the info manually instead to be able to change name.
