AMEX Platinum Charge cardholders receive a voucher for a complimentary hotel night’s stay in their welcome pack, and for each year they renew their membership.

Cardholders normally have a choice between the St Regis Singapore or W Sentosa Cove. Going forward, however, there’ll be some new options on the menu.
American Express has increased the list of participating hotels to 19
AMEX has published a new list of Platinum Stay participating properties. The list now numbers 19 hotels across nine countries, including places as far afield as Mexico and Morocco.

All vouchers cover accommodation for two adults, and include breakfast. Reservations must be made at least 7 working days in advance,and are strictly non-changeable or refundable once booked. Blackout dates apply at several properties.
Although you’d expect the free night voucher to book you into the cheapest possible room, that’s not always true. At the Banyan Tree Bangkok, for example, you get a Serenity Club Room, two levels above the base category. This comes with club lounge access, which is a nice touch.
Similarly, at the Pavilion Hotel Kuala Lumpur, you get an Urban Studio, double the size of the base room.
Do note that although the St Regis Singapore remains available, the W Sentosa Cove unfortunately drops off the list.
All vouchers follow their existing terms- if you have an older voucher that still reflects the St Regis Singapore and W Sentosa Cove, that voucher is still valid for those two hotels. If you have a newer voucher, you’ll be able to use it for the additional new hotels, but not the W Sentosa Cove.Â
Conclusion
The loss of the W Sentosa Cove means the voucher is slightly less useful for a staycation, but that said, it’s nice to have some additional options to choose from with 18 new properties worldwide.
On a side note: if your voucher happens to be approaching expiry, and you’ve not been able to use it on account of the Covid-19 situation, be sure to reach out to AMEX customer service. Many members have reported success in getting the voucher extended.
I wonder if they will assist with the Free 2-Night stay for Platinum Reserve cardholders.
Will exsiting unused vouchers be affected by this change – i.e. W Sentosa Cove can no longer be booked?

Going off tangent here, but I was wondering if supp cardholders get the hotel status benefits (Hilton Gold, Bonvoy Gold, etc.) like the principal cardholder does? How about for access to Centurion Lounges and Delta Sky Clubs? Planning to apply when the situation improves.
For the lounges, my wife with the supp Plat Charge card can bring additional adult into the Amex/Centurion lounge. (Can’t comment on Delta Sky Clubs)
supp cardholders enjoy the same hotel elite status and lounge access as principal. only first supp cardholder gets unlimited priority pass though
If you have not been, the Banyan Tree Lang Co is a good choice.
Otherwise, Mandarin Oriental is something I wuld consider too.
1 night only…..means need to book 2 nights (and have a 50% /1 night free voucher)
the photos from BT lang co look great! might consider, when things clear up. centurion cardholders get a 2 for 1 voucher for MO hotels, i believe
