Marriott Bonvoy has launched its latest bonus points promotion, which runs from 13 August to 10 November 2020. Bonvoy members can earn 2,500 bonus points per stay, with a one-time 5,000 bonus on the third stay.Â
Marriott Bonvoy’s latest promotion
The first step is to register, because unlike previous promotions, Marriott will not count any stays booked before registration. If you’ve already booked something, check if you can cancel and rebook without any penalty.Â
After registration, members will earn 2,500 bonus points per stay, with a one-time bonus of 5,000 points after the third stay. In other words:
- First stay: 2,500 bonus points
- Second stay: 2,500 bonus points
- Third stay: 2,500+ 5,000 bonus points
- Fourth & subsequent stay: 2,500 bonus pointsÂ
Only paid stays (not award stays) will qualify for this promotion. There is no cap on the maximum bonus points that can be earned, and bonus points will be credited up to 6 weeks after the promotion ends.Â

As you can see, 2,500 points won’t get you anywhere fast, but hey, if you’re staying at a Marriott property anyway…
Since bonus points are awarded per stay, regardless of duration, this promotion is well-suited for one-night stays. That’s probably what most of us will be doing through staycations anyway.Â

*The Ritz-Carlton Millennia Singapore is under the Marriott chain and approved for staycations too, but does not participate in the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program
Staycation rates should be counted as qualifying rates for this promotion, but again, given that 2,500 points isn’t a whole lot, this shouldn’t be a driving factor in your decision. That said, the Aloft Bangkok Sukhumvit starts at 10,000 points a night, so if you want to start saving up for a trip in 2021 then it can’t hurt.Â
Conclusion
This new Marriott Bonvoy promotion is better than previous ones, but it’s not all that fantastic in the grand scheme of things. Take a few minutes to register now, and see what staycation deals catch your eye.

I got an error as well trying to apply for this promotion. Called in to the customer service and CSO said she will get their development team to check why I could not register for this promotion under my profile and get back to me within 1 week.
Hi Aaron – Curious about the statement that one should register first and then book. The Ts&Cs state Only stays made after registration will qualify towards the promotion. Did I miss something?
Is the 5K bonus only for the third stay or every third stay?
One time bonus on third stay
