While most staycations are in the 1-2 night range, luxury agent programs like Virtuoso frequently run free night promotions for those willing to stretch their stay.
Even better, these rates come with additional perks like breakfast, room upgrades and hotel credits, and price the same as the best flexible rate (which means they’re fully refundable up to 24-48 hours before check-in, depending on the property). They also qualify for hotel points and elite night credit, where applicable.ย
โ ๏ธ Stays during Phase 2 (HA) |
If your stay falls between 22 July and 18 August 2021, do have a read of these articles (link |ย link) to understand how the tightened measures will affect your staycation. |
Here’s a run down of the ongoing 3rd, 4th and 5th night free offers. These can be booked through the HoteLux app, or any luxury privileges agent (e.g. Classic Travel or QX Travel, which don’t have subscription fees).ย
HoteLux is currently offering a free membership for World and World Elite Mastercard holders. Simply download the app here and enter the first 6 digits of your card in the account creation screen.
Maximizing the free night benefit
Before we look at the rates, here’s a quick tip on maximizing the value of the free night benefit.
How most of these offers work is that the 3rd/4th/5th night rate is reduced to zero. So you could ensure that the 3rd/4th/5th night falls on a Friday or Saturday night, when hotels increase their rates for the weekend.ย
For example, here’s the Four Seasons Singapore, with check-in on 12 August (Thursday) and check out on 15 August (Sunday). Thursday night costs S$380++, Friday night costs S$430++, and Saturday night would have cost S$430++ too, but is reduced to 0. My weighted average cost per night is therefore S$270++.ย
โ Some hotels (e.g. W Sentosa Cove) take the value of the free night as the average room rate. For example, if Night 1, 2 and 3 cost S$100, S$200 and S$200 respectively, then the value of the free night is S$167, and the overall cost S$333. In this case it’s less important to make sure the free night coincides with a weekend. |
The rates below are for weekday stays in August; your actual rates will differ depending on the date. I’ve already adjusted for the free night in the total.ย
