American Express has launched a “Dual Card” offer that runs from now till 17 October 2021. New-to-card customers who sign up for an AMEX KrisFlyer Credit Card and an AMEX True Cashback Card will receive a total of S$250 CapitaVouchers when they spend just S$1 on each card.
This is a great option for those who don’t hold any AMEX cards right now or in the last 6 months (remember: AMEX recently cut its new-to-card period from 12 to 6 months), and don’t think they can meet the minimum spend requirement of other sign-up bonuses.
AMEX Dual Card Offer
Dual Card Offer |
From 13-17 October 2021, new-to-card American Express customers will receive S$250 CapitaVouchers when they sign up for the following cards and charge a minimum of S$1 to each card:
- AMEX True Cashback Card
- AMEX KrisFlyer Credit Card
โ ๏ธ AMEX defines new customers as those who do not hold any American Express principal credit cards now, or in the past 6 months. UOB/DBS AMEX cards don’t count, nor do business/corporate AMEX cards like the HighFlyer Card. |
This is broken down into:
- S$100 CapitaVouchers on approval for the AMEX True Cashback Card and charging S$1 to the card
- S$100 CapitaVouchers on approval for the AMEX KrisFlyer Card and charging S$1 to the card
- S$50 CapitaVouchers for completing (1) and (2)
Both the AMEX True Cashback Card and AMEX KrisFlyer Card come with a waiver of their first year annual fee.
Eligible cardholders will receive the vouchers approximately 12 weeks after they have met the criteria. If they cease to be a cardmember within six months from approval, they will be charged the value of the gift.
For the avoidance of doubt, cardmembers who apply under this promotion will not be eligible for the following offers:
- AMEX True Cashback Card
- The S$80 CapitaVoucher offer and S$20 CapitaVoucher upon first spend offer listed on the American Express website
- AMEX KrisFlyer Credit Card
- The Andaz Singapore offer listed on the American Express website
However, they will still be eligible for the following:
- AMEX True Cashback Card
- 3% Welcome Bonus cashback for the first 6 months, for the first S$5,000 spend
- AMEX KrisFlyer Credit Card
- 5,000 miles on first spend (for first-time American Express Singapore Airlines Credit Card applicants)
- 5,000 KrisFlyer miles with a minimum spend of S$3,000 in the first 3 months of Card Membership
One final point to note: approved cardmembers must receive a minimum S$6,000 line of credit on the first card they apply for. This shouldn’t be an issue for most applicants, since the typical credit limit assigned is 2x monthly income (although there are other variables which may affect the final figure such as internal risk assessment).
The T&C of this offer can be found here.
What are the alternatives?
New-to-card customers who can meet a minimum spend of S$3,000 could apply for an alternative AMEX KrisFlyer Credit Card offer, which awards:
- 9,000 bonus miles
- One-night Andaz Singapore staycation with breakfast for 2
It comes down to how much you value this, but I’d say most people would be better off taking S$250 CapitaVouchers with just S$1 (OK fine, S$2) total spend.
Conclusion
Dual Card Offer |
American Express is offering S$250 of CapitaVouchers for new-to-card customers who sign up for two cards and spend S$1 on each. As far as sign-up offers go, it’s an excellent return especially if you don’t have any big-ticket spending coming up.
Remember to submit your application by 17 October 2021 and get approved by 31 October 2021 to be eligible.
If I have a sup card for Amex Krisflyer, am I still able to apply for the principal card as a new to bank customer?
Yes
works with Grabpay topup?
7-11 doesnt support amex.
NTUC does.
amex TCB will be fine, amex KF credit card will not. but since it’s just $1, why not be extra sure and just buy a canned drink at ntuc?
No real value in the KF Blue card if you’re not churning the welcome bonus
If I have the UOB Prvi Amex and DBS Taka Amex, am I eligible for this offer?
yes
if i have the AMEX Singapore Airlines Business Credit Card, can i still get this promo?
yes, if that is your only amex card
I used your link to apply for both cards, but was told by Amex that they only process one card at a time, and that I can apply for the 2nd card after they send the first card. Doesn’t seem like I’ll get the card by Oct 17. Doesn’t that render this promo impossible?
You must apply by 17 Oct, but approval can be up till 31 Oct. See t and c
I plan to apply for the 1712 next year (or when border is more “open”), if I apply for these 2 now will I lose out any new-to-bank benefits for the 1712?
no, 1712 sign up offer does not need you to be new to bank.
Ah thanks, but if I apply for 1712 first then I will lose out any future new-to-bank for these cards…
correct.
