American Express has launched a Singles Day campaign that runs from now till 22 November 2021, with S$250 of Amazon.sg, Lazada or Shopee vouchers for new customers.

As a reminder, American Express recently reduced its threshold for “new customer”. So long as you don’t hold a principal American Express credit card now or in the past 6 months (was: 12 months), you qualify for this offer.
Get S$250 vouchers with a new AMEX card
From 1-22 November 2021, new customers who sign up for the following cards will receive S$250 of Amazon.sg, Lazada or Shopee vouchers with a minimum spend of S$250 in the first month of approval.

The income requirements above refer to Singaporeans and PRs; if you’re an expat, you may be interested to know that the minimum income for the AMEX True Cashback Card and AMEX KrisFlyer Credit Card has been reduced from S$60,000 to S$45,000.
Approval must be received by 30 November 2021, and gifts will be fulfilled within 12 weeks of meeting the minimum spend. Cardmembers who apply through this offer will not be valid for:
- the Andaz Singapore offer listed on the American Express website for the AMEX KrisFlyer Credit Card
- the S$100 CapitaVoucher offer and S$20 CapitaVoucher upon first spend offer listed on
the American Express website for the AMEX True Cashback Card

What counts towards the minimum spend?
AMEX has a list of excluded spending categories here. The key ones to note are:
- GrabPay top-ups (not excluded for AMEX True Cashback card)
- Insurance
- SPC transactions
- Utilities
For the avoidance of doubt, hospital transactions, donations, and anything else not explicitly stated in the exclusion list will count as eligible spend.

Alternative offer
Do note that there’s an alternative offer (ending 15 November) available for American Express cards, which offers new customers S$265 of bitcoin or a pair of Apple AirPods Pro. However, note that:
- The minimum spending requirement is higher at S$500 in the first month of approval
- The definition of new customer is stricter at 12 months
On a spend: return ratio, the Singles’ Day offer is probably better.
Conclusion
New customers can get S$250 of vouchers with a new American Express credit card and a minimum spend of just S$250. It’s basically 100% of your spend back in terms of vouchers, plus the regular base rewards (1.1 mpd for the AMEX KrisFlyer Credit Card; 1.5% cashback for the AMEX True Cashback).
Hi Aaron, for the $250 vouchers, do you know if they mentioned the denomination of each voucher, and if there is any minimum spending applicable? I read the T&C and for Amazon they said it is a $250 gift card, but I’m not sure about the others. Thanks!
