It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Kris+ run an app-wide miles-back offer. Unless I’ve missed something, you need to go all the way back to November 2022, when a 40% miles-back promo ran for Black Friday.
But that’s understandable in a way. While we saw constant miles-back promos throughout 2020 and 2021, that was when Kris+ was still gaining traction. Now that the app is fairly well-established, with acceptance at more than 1,500+ partner outlets islandwide, there’s less impetus to splash the cash.

That’s why the launch of a new app-wide 25% miles-back promo is well worth writing about, if you ask me- all the more so given that KrisFlyer miles are set to expire once again from 31 July 2023!
Kris+ 25% miles-back promotion
From 26 July to 13 August 2023, Kris+ users will get 25% miles-back on all transactions made through the Kris+ app. This includes both in-store payments, as well as partner vouchers purchased in-app through the Flash Deals section.
There is no cap on the maximum miles-back that can be earned.
To illustrate how this works, suppose you spend 15,000 KrisPay miles at a Kris+ merchant (S$100 value). You’ll receive an instant rebate of 3,750 miles, for a net outlay of 11,250 miles. This yields a value of 0.89 cents per mile, instead of the usual 0.67 cents per mile.

How good is a 25% miles-back offer? Well, it’s certainly not as big as what we’ve seen in the past, but as I mentioned in the intro, miles-back offers have really dried up from 2022 onwards. We might see a slightly bigger offer for Black Friday, but otherwise I suspect this will be as good as it gets for 2023.
How does this compare to other redemption options?

A value of 0.89 cents per mile may not be as good as redeeming flights, but would still be one of the better options for using miles on the ground. I’d much sooner choose this than spending KrisFlyer miles on KrisShop or Pelago, for example.
That’s all the more so if you can find a Kris+ Deal you like. Some deals currently on offer include:
- S$50 for a S$60 Bee Cheng Hiang cash voucher
- S$42.50 for a S$50 Beauty in the Pot cash voucher
- S$30 for a S$50 PUMA cash voucher
- S$425 for a S$500 HipVan gift card
Kris+ Deals are also eligible for the 25% miles-back, stretching the value of your miles even more.
Should you transfer KrisFlyer miles to Kris+ just to take advantage of the offer? Probably not, unless they’re expiring soon. Singapore Airlines will not be extending any KrisFlyer miles beyond 31 July 2023, and if you don’t have a critical mass to redeem for a flight (or no travel plans), then getting some value out of them would still be better than none.
Also, if you have KrisPay miles already stuck in Kris+ due to referrals, promotions, or just sheer forgetfulness (e.g. forgetting to transfer miles to your KrisFlyer account within seven days of accrual), then this at least gets you more than the usual 0.67 cents of value.
Earn KrisPay miles via Kris+
While spending KrisFlyer miles via Kris+ may not be for everyone, earning them definitely should be.
Kris+ partners with a wide range of everyday merchants, such as Bottles & Bottles, Challenger and Harvey Norman. Members can earn up to 9 mpd at participating merchants, which is further stackable with credit card miles.
Basically, all you do is:
- Scan the merchant’s Kris+ QR code
- Enter the amount to be paid, and press “Pay” to pay via Apple/Google Pay
Don’t forget to transfer any KrisPay miles you earn to KrisFlyer within 7 days of the transaction. Wait any longer, and they’ll be stuck in Kris+ forever (with a six month expiry, to boot).
In-app payments in Kris+ follow the underlying merchant’s regular MCC. In other words, simply use whatever credit card you’d normally use at that particular merchant.
The following cards are MCC agnostic; you’ll earn 3-4 mpd on Kris+ regardless of the underlying merchant.

However, there’s also scope to use other cards like the HSBC Revolution and UOB Lady’s Card for up to 6 mpd, depending on what type of Kris+ merchant you’re transacting with. To learn more about this, refer to the article below.
Mastercard S$10 rebate
While we’re on the topic of Kris+, a reminder that from 1-31 July 2023, Kris+ users who make a transaction of at least S$50 on Kris+ with a Mastercard debit or credit card will receive a rebate of S$10 (in the form of 1,500 KrisPay miles).
You will need to register for the challenge via the app to be eligible. This can be done in the Challenges section of the Kris+ app, at the top of the homepage.
This rebate can be earned a maximum of once.

Kris+ is offering an app-wide 25% miles-back promo, valid for transactions at any Kris+ merchant or Kris+ Deal until 13 August 2023. A 25% miles-back promo is historically not the largest we’ve seen, but it’s still the first miles-back offer we’ve had in more than six months.
It could also come in handy for those who have expiring KrisFlyer miles to burn, ahead of the looming 31 July 2023 deadline.
