For the past few weeks, Kris+ users looking to participate in Challenges or do their weekly check-in would have found the section missing on the app.
It wasn’t a permanent removal, however. The feature was undergoing maintenance, and has now relaunched. Challenges can once again be activated, and check-ins will resume from this Monday.

Kris+ Challenges are back
Kris+ Challenges, for the uninitiated, are simple tasks that award extra KrisPay miles. You can find the Challenges section at the top of the Kris+ home screen (you may need to swipe to the left to see it).
Do make a point of registering for all the Challenges you see, in the off chance you trigger the reward criteria inadvertently!
There’s only one challenge currently available, which is fairly easy to achieve. Kris+ users who spend at least S$100 in a single payment with a Mastercard will get 3,750 KrisPay miles (worth S$25).
This is capped at the first 2,500 users who successfully complete the challenge; I just received the award for a transaction made this morning, so there’s still some quota left at the time of writing.
KrisPay miles are awarded immediately upon completing Challenges, but must be spent through the Kris+ app; you won’t be able to transfer them to KrisFlyer.
Kris+ check-in back from 19 February
From Monday, 19 February 2024, the Kris+ check-in bonus will resume once more, available at the top of the Challenges section.
Unfortunately, the reward has been progressively nerfed. When it first launched in February 2022, the reward was 150 KrisPay miles (S$1). That was cut to 75 KrisPay miles (S$0.50) in November 2022, and then to 30 KrisPay miles (S$0.20) in May 2023.
At some point the time taken to check-in will be more valuable than the reward itself, but hey, that’s up to you to decide.
A few points to note:
- A week runs from Monday 12 a.m to Sunday 11.59 p.m
- You need to check-in 3x in a given week to earn the bonus
- Check-ins can be done any day of the week and need not be consecutive
- You’ll need to wait 24 hours between check-ins
- KrisPay miles are credited to your account instantly, and must be spent through the Kris+ app (You can’t transfer them to KrisFlyer)
- KrisPay miles have a six-month validity
While it’s hard to argue against free miles, the Kris+ check-in feature is arguably less useful because KrisPay miles earned this way cannot be transferred to KrisFlyer, and KrisFlyer has a fixed expiry policy (i.e. you can’t use check-in miles to extend the life of your entire balance).
Back in the Mileslife days, its check-in feature offered a free way to extend the validity of your entire balance with activity-based expiry programmes like British Airways Executive Club and Avianca LifeMiles.
