Since 2023, Singapore Airlines has been offering a โBirthday Bonusโ of 1,000-2,000 KrisFlyer miles to KrisFlyer and PPS Club members who fly during their birthday month, or the following two calendar months.
During your birthday month, youโll receive an eDM advertising this promotion (though itโs OK if you donโt because itโs not a targeted offer).
Granted, 1,000-2,000 bonus miles wonโt set the world on fire, but itโs still a nice little touch, especially if youโre flying on Scoot where the bonus could very well be more than the base miles youโd earn!
Hereโs how it works, and what you need to do to trigger the bonus.
KrisFlyer Birthday Bonus
PPS Club and KrisFlyer members can earn 1,000 to 2,000 bonus miles when they travel on a commercial Singapore Airlines or Scoot flight during their birthday month, or the subsequent two calendar months.

The flight must be completed within three months from the first day of the KrisFlyer memberโs birthday month. For example, if your birthday is 14 April 2024, you will need to fly between 1 April to 30 June 2024 to qualify (note how the flight can be before your actual birthday).
There is no minimum duration or distance required for the bonus to be triggered, but codeshare flights (sold by another carrier and operated by SIA/Scoot) are not eligible. Also, it does not matter when the booking was made, only when it is flown.
Do note that the Birthday Bonus only applies to commercial flights paid fully with cash. No Birthday Bonus will be awarded if you:
- Redeem an award flight
- Partially or fully pay with miles
- Partially or fully pay with vouchers
The Birthday Bonus will be earned on a maximum of one flight segment, so even if your itinerary involves multiple segments, like SQ26 from SIN-FRA-JFK, youโll only earn a single Birthday Bonus.
No registration is required for this offer; it will apply automatically to all KrisFlyer or PPS Club members.
Your KrisFlyer number must be attached to your booking
At the risk of stating the obvious, your KrisFlyer membership number must be attached to your booking if you want to enjoy the Birthday Bonus.
This means that you will not be able to credit this flight to a different frequent flyer programme. Even if you manage to split the FQTS/FQTV fields, it wonโt work- there must be an accrual activity on the SQ side for the Bonus to be triggered.
When is the Birthday Bonus credited?
The Birthday Bonus should be credited within four weeks after completing the eligible flight segment.
If, for whatever reason, the Bonus does not post properly, any retrospective claim must be made no later than one month after the completion of the applicable flight segment- so you donโt really have a lot of time to take action.
All miles earned under this promotion are subject to the standard three-year expiry period (and not the one-year expiry thatโs normally given to miles earned in contests). Of course, if youโre a Solitaire PPS or PPS Club member, your miles never expire so long as your status remains valid.

Conclusion

KrisFlyer and PPS Club members who fly around their birthday period and pay cash for their tickets can enjoy up to 2,000 bonus miles, which will probably be a nice little surprise given that so few people know about this benefit.
I donโt think itโs worth planning a flight specifically to obtain this bonus, but if youโre travelling around the period anyway then you might as well earn it.
Someone else booked SQ for me. I only added KF membership at the Phnom Penh airport check in counter. Surprisingly I got flight miles & the bday bonus miles credited on departure day. Weโll done SQ.
This will definately work. Think of all the corporate travellers โ a main demographic for SQ.
Is the Milelion having a birthday soon ;)?
Hi, do you know when will the miles be credited? Birthday in May and took 2 flights in May. Live agents arenโt helpful in telling me if Iโm eligible and when miles will be in. Many thanks in advance!
Would you get this bonus if you booked through online travel agency (OTA) platforms?
