American Express has launched a new AMEX Offer for Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, which gives registered cardholders an S$80 statement credit with a minimum spend of S$400 at participating hotels, restaurants, bars and spas.
This runs alongside the previously-announced offers of up to S$790 statement credits with Four Seasons, Hilton, IHG, Marriott, Millennium Hotels, Pan Pacific, and Wyndham.ย
Registration is required, and can be done via the AMEX Offers portal.ย
โ What are AMEX Offers? |
AMEX Offers are opportunities to earn bonus miles/points, or statement credits. These can be found in the โOffersโ section of the AMEX app or web portal.ย Registration is required, and some offers may be targeted. These are not applicable to DBS/Citi/UOB AMEX cardholders.ย |
Get S$80 back on S$400 Shangri-La Hotels spend
Registered AMEX cardholders will receive an S$80 statement credit when they spend at least S$400 in one or more transactions at participating Shangri-La Group hotels, restaurants, bars and spas, by 30 September 2024.
Here’s the key details to take note of:
- The minimum spend of S$400 can be made across different participating properties; there is no need for you to spend at a single outlet
- Spending can be made online, in-app or in-person
- Excludes payments made for events, meetings, conferences, banquets and/or wedding packages
There is no overall cap on registrations for this offer, but the offer can only be used once per registered card. If you have multiple AMEX cards, you can register all of them and enjoy the offer as many times as you have cards.ย
Do note that theย paymentย must be made by 30 September 2024 to be eligible for this offer. If your check-in date is before 30 September 2024 but your check-out date is after, I’d recommend asking the front desk to charge your card in full at the time of check-in (a pre-authorisation won’t count!).
Statement credits will post to your account within 15 business days, but are usually done much faster.ย
Which locations are participating?
The full list of participating venues can be found in the links below:
Eligible spending includes room charges, dining and spa treatments.
All Shangri-La properties in Singapore are participating, including the Jen Singapore Orchardgateway and Jen Singapore Tanglin. Participation even extends to The Palawan @ Sentosa, so you could spend at HydroDash, HyperDrive, UltraGolf, or any of the dining concepts.ย
It’s worth seeing whether any of these hotels are offering luxury advisor rates such as Shangri-La Luxury Circle or Virtuoso, as these come with additional amenities like complimentary breakfast and a US$100 hotel credit. These price the same as the hotel’s best available rate, and can be booked through HoteLux or other luxury travel advisors.ย

Conclusion
American Express cardholders can now register for a S$80 statement credit with a minimum spend of S$400 at a participating Shangri-La Hotel by 30 September 2024.ย
This joins an already-impressive slate of hotel credit offers, and since the offer is validย once per card, those with multiple cards might want to ask the hotel if they can split up a larger transaction to enjoy the offer multiple times.ย
If the stay is only early next year, will it be acceptable to go to the front desk before 30 sept 2024 to make partial payment to the room?
Yes; I believe you sign off that the prepaid sum is non-refundable, though.
