At the start of 2024, the OCBC Rewards Card launched a quarterly 6 mpd promotion, offering upsized miles for selected merchants and MCCs.
The inaugural edition was perhaps a bit too niche, covering only TANGS and SHEIN, but it subsequently got much better with department stores, duty-free and Watsons. Duty-free was then dropped, but department stores and Watsons were retained for the rest of 2024.
OCBC has now confirmed that the offer will be continuing for 2025, per a notification on the OCBC app (thanks to @nalsy886 for the screenshot).
Even if you don’t care for Marks and Spencer or Takashimaya, MCC 5311 Department Stores is a portal to a world of opportunities thanks to Heymax, as I’ll explain in a bit.
OCBC Rewards extends 6 mpd at Watsons and department stores
From 1 January to 30 June 2025, OCBC Rewards Cardholders will earn 6 mpd at Watsons, or transactions at MCC 5311 Department Stores.
MCC | Examples (non-exhaustive) |
MCC 5311 Departmental Stores |
BHG, Marks and Spencer, Metro, Takashimaya, Tangs |
This offer is available to all cardholders, and no registration is required. Bonuses will be awarded for both local and overseas spend, whether online or offline.
The 6 mpd earn rate is capped at S$1,000 per calendar month; any spend above this will earn the usual 4 mpd up till S$1,110, then 0.4 mpd afterwards.
Component | Monthly Cap (OCBC$) |
Monthly Cap (S$) |
Base: 5 OCBC$ per S$5 (0.4 mpd) |
N/A | N/A |
Regular Bonus: 45 OCBC$ per S$5 (3.6 mpd) |
10,000 OCBC$ | S$1,110* |
Special Bonus: 25 OCBC$ per S$5 (2 mpd) |
5,000 OCBC$ | S$1,000 |
*Really S$1,111, but remember that OCBC only awards points in blocks of S$5 |
Both principal and supplementary cardholder spend will be aggregated when awarding the bonus OCBC$, but supplementary cards do not have their own bonus cap.
If you happen to have a legacy OCBC Titanium Rewards Blue and Pink Card, each is treated as a separate product, so each principal card will have its own bonus cap.
When will bonus miles be credited?
The additional 25 OCBC$ per S$5 (2 mpd) will be credited by the end of the next calendar month, following the relevant transaction posting date.
This is the same timeframe for the posting of the additional 45 OCBC$ per S$5 (3.6 mpd) that is an evergreen feature of the card.
Terms and Conditions
OCBC has yet to publish the updated T&Cs for the campaign extension, but the T&Cs for the current promo (which ends on 31 December 2024) can be found here.
I will update this section as soon as the new T&Cs are live.
Can you use Amaze?
If you’re going overseas, you might be wondering whether you could pair the OCBC Rewards Card with Amaze and still enjoy the 6 mpd rate.
Yes and no. Amaze keeps the MCC, but modifies the transaction description. Therefore, you would earn the bonus at department stores (since it’s awarded based on MCC 5311), but not at Watsons (since it’s awarded based on transaction description).

All these would normally code under a wide range of MCCs if you were to make payment directly with the merchant, but if you’re buying vouchers via Heymax, everything defaults to MCC 5311. In other words, you could use the OCBC Rewards Card to earn 6 mpd on your groceries, food delivery, shopping, and anything else that Heymax sells a gift card for!
To further sweeten the deal, Heymax also awards Max Miles based on the value of your purchase, which can be redeemed for more than two dozen airline and hotel partners.

Conclusion
OCBC Rewards Cardholders will continue to enjoy 6 mpd on departmental stores and Watsons till 30 June 2025, capped at S$1,000 per calendar month. Maxing out the bonus is relatively simple if you buy vouchers via Heymax, which turns dining, food delivery, online shopping and groceries into MCC 5311.
The latest extension means that MCC 5311 will have been an OCBC Rewards 6 mpd category for a 15-month period, which is a heck of a lot of time to make hay. Long may it continue!
