Singapore Airlines has been making some big investments in its Suites and First Class champagnes, ever since losing Dom Perignon to Emirates in November 2022.
In June 2023, the airline launched A Celebration of Champagne, adding a third rotating option of grower champagnes alongside its existing pours of Krug Grand Cuvée and Taittinger Comtes de Champagne.
This third option continued into 2024, featuring an impressive lineup of Bollinger La Grande Année 2015, Henri Giraud Ay Grand Cru Brut MV19, and Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires 2007. SIA then elevated its champagne offering further with the introduction of the peerless Louis Roederer Cristal 2015—the first time this champagne has been served in the air.
SIA has now announced that it will be pouring Pol Roger Blanc de Blancs 2016 in Suites and First Class from February 2025. Unfortunately, this comes at the expense of both Taittinger Comtes de Champagne and Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires, reducing the total number of options to two.
Singapore Airlines reverts to two champagne options in Suites & First Class

Singapore Airlines has published its inflight menus for February 2025, which show two champagne options for Suites and First Class passengers, compared to three in the previous month.

As a reminder, 2015 Louis Roederer Cristal Millesime Brut will be rotated to the other set of Suites/First Class routes from 1 March 2025, with Krug Grand Cuvee presumably going the other way.
Singapore Airlines will also be restoring First Class service to Dubai from 30 March 2025, though it remains to be seen which set of champagnes this route will receive.
Overview: Pol Roger Blanc de Blancs 2016

While Pol Roger is as French as they come, the brand is probably better known for its association with an Englishman: one Winston Churchill.
Churchill was a devoted champagne drinker, and Pol Roger was his preferred brand. He reportedly consumed it almost daily and famously said, “In victory, deserve it. In defeat, need it.” He developed a strong friendship with Odette Pol-Roger, a member of the family behind the brand, after they met at a gala dinner in 1944 at the British Embassy in Paris. Their friendship lasted until Churchill’s death in 1965.
Pol Roger honored him by naming their prestige cuvée “Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill,” first released in 1984. This champagne was crafted in a robust, full-bodied style to match Churchill’s taste.

Pol Roger Blanc de Blancs 2016 is made exclusively from Chardonnay sourced from Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte des Blancs, including Oiry, Chouilly, Cramant, Avize, Oger, and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Aged for six years in Pol Roger’s deep cellars, this cuvée embodies elegance and finesse.
What’s interesting is that the 2016 vintage experienced challenging weather conditions, including frost and hail, and resulted in a low-yield harvest of high-quality grapes. Some champagne houses even decided against releasing a 2016 vintage.
This champagne is known for its refined acidity, delicate bubbles, and a complex bouquet of citrus, white flowers, almonds, and brioche. On the palate, it offers a crisp, mineral-driven profile with notes of lemon zest, green apple, toasted hazelnuts, and a subtle creamy texture from extended lees aging.
Pol Roger Blanc de Blancs 2016 is best enjoyed as an aperitif or paired with seafood, shellfish, and fine cheeses.

“My tastes are simple; I’m easily satisfied with the best,” said Winston Churchill, who famously loved Champagne—particularly the wines of Pol Roger. Founded in 1849, Pol Roger has remained in family hands for six generations and is one of the most respected and revered houses in the region. This wine, from the 2016 vintage, is crafted exclusively from Chardonnay sourced from exceptional Grand Cru sites in the Côte des Blancs. As a style, Blanc de Blancs ages beautifully, blending complexity with the freshness, energy, and longevity of Chardonnay. Aged for a minimum of six years before release, this is a deliciously sophisticated Champagne from an esteemed and beloved house. -Singapore Airlines |
Will a third option return?
In case you’re disappointed by the paucity of bubbly choices (poor you!), this doesn’t necessarily spell the end of three options at the pointy end of the plane.
Singapore Airlines previously indicated that its plans for 2025 were to serve “up to” three champagne labels. This means that it’s possible we’ll see a third option added later in the year, as the current downsizing could be due to a supply issue.

As always, you can view the inflight menu 10 days before departure to see what you can look forward to on your flight.
Conclusion
Singapore Airlines will be scaling back to two champagne options for its Suites and First Class customers from Februrary 2025, with Pol Roger Blanc de Blanc 2016 taking the place of the Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Rose 2011 and Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires 2007.
No one likes to see fewer choices, but keep in mind that Cristal 2015 is still very much in play, and will be until at least 2025. This, together with Krug Grand Cuvee and the new Pol Roger option, should make for a very competitive line-up overall.
What do you think of the Pol Roger Blanc de Blanc 2016?
As this is a much cherished champagne Winston Churchill, pol Roger spanned 6 generation for wine is no easy feat in the warring period .
Would prefer theirs brut NV reserve
