American Express has unveiled its latest set of sign-up bonuses for the AMEX KrisFlyer Ascend and AMEX KrisFlyer Credit Card, for applications and approvals between 1 July and 30 September 2021.

The AMEX KrisFlyer Ascend will swap its Shangri-La Singapore staycation for the Sofitel Sentosa Resort & Spa, while keeping the 10,000 bonus miles. The sign-up offer for the AMEX KrisFlyer Credit Card remains the same.

All spending requirements remain unchanged.

  • Existing customer: 1-night Sofitel Sentosa staycation
  • New customer: 1-night Sofitel Sentosa staycation + 10,000 miles
โš ๏ธ AMEX defines new customers as those who do not hold any American Express principal credit cards now, or in the past 12 months.

This means your total haul (including the regular base miles) could be 21,000 miles, S$120 and a free Sofitel Sentosa staycation for S$5,000 of spending.

The stay at the Sofitel Sentosa is valid for a Luxury Room (the lead-in category; review here) and does not include breakfast. However, if you’re an Accor Plus member, you’ll save up to 50% on all F&B including breakfast.

โš ๏ธ AMEX defines new customers as those who do not hold any American Express principal credit cards now, or in the past 12 months.

This means your total haul (including the regular base miles) could be 13,300 miles and S$280 for S$3,000 of spending.

The AMEX KrisFlyer Credit Card comes with a first-year waiver of its S$176.55 annual fee.

The T&C of this offer can be found here.

What spending is eligible?

The minimum spend can be met with any purchases of eligible goods or services which post to your account within the first 3 months after approval. AMEX has a list of excluded spending categories here, but the key ones to note are:

  • GrabPay top-ups
  • Insurance
  • SPC transactions
  • Utilities

For the avoidance of doubt, hospital transactions, donations, and anything else not explicitly stated in the exclusion list will count as eligible spend.

Conclusion

American Express continues to offer very competitive sign-up bonuses on the KrisFlyer cobrand cards, and those who want to get off the mainland may prefer the Sofitel Sentosa experience over the Shangri-La Singapore.

Don’t forget that your application needs to be approved by 30 September 2021 to enjoy this offer, so don’t leave it too late if you’re interested.

Statement credit is garbage

Chicken McCrispy - McDonald's

You can use statement credit towards any charges, including dining at restaurants.

The new Chicken McCrispy is Mcdonaldโ€™s latest addition to the permanent menu. Crispy, Tender, and Juicy, try it now at any McDonaldโ€™s outlet!

What is the Milelion bonus?

CCNewbie

Ok, thatโ€™s gd. But how is it different from usual MGM?

Xman

Just wondering if Cardup/ipaymy spending counts towards the $3,000? Given it was not explicitly excluded.

Hi Aaron, may I check for existing amex cardholders, does the $80 statement credit apply? Or is the statement credit for new applicants only. thanks!

I uds that the million bonus of 10k miles are for new applicants only, winder if the $80 is the same?
