With the Spring 2018 PointsBreak promotion ending on 30 April 2018, IHG has just released the full list of hotels for the Summer edition of PointsBreak. You are able to book and stay at these hotels from now until 31 July 2018. You can view the full list of PointsBreak hotels here.
Book award nights for as low as 5,000 IHG Rewards Club points
PointsBreak is the promotion that is run by IHG where you are able to book select hotels in the IHG portfolio for as low as 5,000 IHG Reward Club points a night. Under PointsBreak, you’re only allowed to make up to two PointsBreak reservations per hotel that is in the PointsBreak list. Each reservation can be any number of nights, but PointsBreak discounted nights are very limited to begin with.
This time, IHG is making the PointsBreak list more informative and will be removing the hotel listing from the PointsBreak list as soon as the hotel runs out of PointsBreak nights. To me that’s a major step up as previously, you had to perform your own manual checks by clicking through to the hotel’s website to confirm if PointsBreak rates were still available.
Rooms booked with points under the PointsBreak rates are subjected to the same cancellation policies as rooms booked with points on normal rates. You will be able to cancel your bookings with no penalty up to 24 hours prior to check in. The policy might vary between properties so make sure you read the fine print when performing a PointsBreak booking at the hotel’s website just to be sure of its exact cancellation policy.
Here’s the full list of PointsBreak properties on offer, sorted by the amount of points required per night:
5,000 IHG Rewards Club points per night:
10,000 IHG Rewards Club points per night:
15,000 IHG Rewards Club points per night:
It’s nice to see Singapore hotels being included in the list again, the Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium has been renovated in recent times with refreshed rooms and at 15,000 IHG Rewards Club points per night under PointsBreak, it’s a steal if you ask me. If you’re planning to visit Ube in Japan, the ANA Crowne Plaza Ube going for 5,000 IHG Rewards Club points is a super good deal.
Unlike the previous list, there aren’t many InterContinental properties in the Summer 2018 edition of PointsBreak. There is a substantial amount of Holiday Inns and Crowne Plazas though and those are decent properties as well.

Consider purchasing IHG Rewards Club points for cheap stays in PointsBreak hotels
IHG is running its points sale from now until 1 June 2018 where you’re able to buy IHG Rewards Club points for as low as 0.55 US Cents. While not the lowest that you’re able to purchase points for, this can still be of great value at PointsBreak hotels. Here’s how much it’ll cost you to book a PointsBreak hotel with points purchased in IHG’s current promotion at 0.55 US cents each:
- 5,000 IHG Rewards Club points hotel – USD28
- 10,000 IHG Rewards Club points hotel – USD56
- 15,000 IHG Rewards Club points hotel – USD84
If you’re looking at booking 5,000 IHG Rewards Club points hotels participating in the PointsBreak promotion, paying USD28 a night is definitely a bargain for hotels like the ANA Crowne Plaza Ube where paid rates normally go for USD94 for a Standard Room.
With the Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium being priced at 15,000 IHG Rewards Club points, paying USD84 per night isn’t that bad at all given paid rates at the hotel are hovering at around USD115 over a weekend in May. You’ll be shaving off close to USD30 if you book your stay with points purchased in the current promotion.
The list of hotels available at discounted rates this time around doesn’t exactly scream luxury, but they’ll get the job done if you’re looking at an overnight stay. Personally, I’ll be looking at purchasing points to fund a stay at the Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium maybe as at 15,000 IHG Rewards Club points a night, that’s definitely a good price to pay for a Singapore hotel.
