#FTR: May 14-20 in The Milelion’s Telegram and Facebook Groups

Catch up on what's happening across The Milelion's social channels.

Welcome to For The Record, or #ftr, a place to catch up all that’s been shared across The Milelion’s Telegram and Facebook Groups where people talk about miles and points, 24/7. Here’s my attempt to summarize the things I found interesting in the past week.

There’s so much chatter going on that this list will be far from comprehensive, so if you want all the details be sure to join the Telegram and Facebook groups. If you have something important to share, be sure to label it with #ftr in the Telegram or Facebook groups. Thank you to everyone for contributing to the community!

Thanks for the summary Aaron.

RE: Citi Prestige, do you know if the 80K has to be in a fixed deposit? Can it be sitting in Citi Maxigain for example?

CitiRep

It must be a pledge (hence secured card). Your $80k basically gets locked down at 0% interest as long as u are holding on to the secured card. U can only get ur money out after u cancel your card which might take another 2 months as they need to make sure all pending transactions are posted.

If u can leave it in maxigain and withdraw ur funds anytime then it wouldn’t be a secured card anymore.

Ken

Sorry, but what are GTM Machines?

Lionel

Hi Aaron, thank you so much for the summary! Could someone please clarify “The Citi Prestige can be applied for as a secured credit card if you’re willing to pledge a total of S$80K with the bank. It’s recommended you apply at a physical branch outlet if you’re interested (Isaac)”? I don’t quite get what it means. Thanks!

Lionel

Citi Prestige usually requires 120K income to apply. if you’re not such a high-earner, you can dump 80K as collateral and they will still give you the card.

Apply at a physical branch, as it’s probably not in the usual protocol and a CSO on the phone or email may not be able to do this for you.
