Last call: Get a UOB PRVI Miles AMEX, receive S$100 cash with 5 trxns (no min spend, existing customers eligible)

Get a UOB PRVI Miles AMEX in March, and whether you're a new or existing UOB customer, receive S$100 cashback after 5 transactions- no minimum spend.

Here’s an easy S$100 for those who don’t currently hold the UOB PRVI Miles AMEX

From now till 31 March 2020, cardholders who apply for a UOB PRVI Miles AMEX through SingSaver and make a minimum of 5 eligible transactions within the first 30 days of approval get S$100 cashback.

Apply for the UOB PRVI Miles AMEX here

This offer is for both new-to-bank and existing UOB customers.

You won’t be eligible for this promotion if you currently hold a UOB PRVI Miles AMEX, or cancelled one in the 6 months prior to 1 March 2020. You are still eligible if you hold the PRVI Miles Mastercard or Visa, or any other UOB card.

Note that unlike the usual SingSaver promotions, there’s no need to enter your email address on a separate rewards form before applying. The cashback is fulfilled by UOB, and any of the links in this article bring you to the dedicated SingSaver landing page. Be sure to apply via SingPass MyInfo for faster approval.

There is no minimum spending required for these 5 transactions. However, the following transactions are considered ineligible:

โ€œExcluded Transactionsโ€ means bill payment transactions, funds to prepaid accounts (including top-ups for any pre-paid card or mobile wallet such as GrabPay, WeChat Pay or Alipay), Instalment Payment Plan, NETS transactions, online money transfers, balance/funds transfers, cash advances, personal loans, fees, interests, finance charges, late payment charges, annual fee charges, reversals, other financial charges, International Processing Fee, gambling-related transactions, payments made to government institutions and services, member financial institutions, securities brokers and dealers, insurance companies, educational institutes, PayPal, AXS, charities or religious or political organisations, recurring bill payments, utilities bill payments, UOB PRVI Payment Facility, transactions that are unposted, subsequently cancelled, voided or reversed for any reason, and/or any other transactions as may be prescribed by UOB from time to time

The full list of exclusions (and their MCCs) can be found here

Note in particular that GrabPay top-ups, payments to government or educational institutions, insurance, charities, utilities, and surprisingly PayPal are not included. Regarding PayPal, I’m not sure if they mean P2P money transfers (as opposed to bona fide B2C transactions), but I wouldn’t take the risk.

In any case, there’s no need to gamble on iffy transactions when it’s extremely straightforward to make 5 transactions in 30 days. The lack of a minimum spend requirement means you could just as well buy a few small items at a supermarket or a pharmacy and be done.

NTUC and Cold Storage self check-out systems take AMEX cards- just 5 small transactions and you’ll get your S$100

If you’ve met the eligibility conditions, you’ll receive a cash credit of S$100 to your account by 31 July 2020. Do note that the gift will be forfeited if you close the card within 9 months of approval.

Additional S$150 cash credit…if you’re lucky

In addition to the S$100 cashback, which is guaranteed if you meet the conditions above, UOB is running a separate offer from 1 March- 30 June 2020.

The first 800 successful applicants who spend S$1,500 within 30 days of approval will receive a S$150 cash credit. This is only for new-to-bank customers who have not held any UOB cards in the 6 months prior to March 2020.

Given that the 800 quota is shared among all UOB credit cards, you’d have to apply and meet the spending criteria very soon if you want a shot at this. As with most UOB sign up promos, there’s no way of knowing if you’re still within the first 800, so it’s best to see this as a further upside, rather than something guaranteed.

Key Features: UOB PRVI Miles AMEX

The UOB PRVI Miles AMEX has an annual fee of S$256.80 (waived for the first year) and a minimum income of S$30,000.

It’s a solid general spending card, with a 1.4/2.4 mpd earn rate on local/overseas spending. Cardholders can also earn 6 mpd on major airlines and hotels booked through Expedia, UOB Travel, and Agoda.

It also has the most generous limo allowance in Singapore– spend just S$1,000 overseas in a calendar quarter to unlock 2 free rides. Spending S$50,000 in a membership year earns 20,000 bonus miles, and UOB points can be transferred to either Asia Miles or KrisFlyer.

Conclusion

This March promo represents an easy S$100 cash, and I’d definitely go for it if I didn’t already have a card.

Remember to submit your applications by 31 March 2020, and use SingPass My Info for faster approval.

My application was rejected. Am I allowed to apply for a UOB Prvi Miles AMEX if I own the UOB Prvi Miles Visa already? I suspect that’s the reason why my application was rejected.

JF

Okay thanks Aaron!
