KrisShop offering 3X miles for July, plus an 800,000 miles giveaway

KrisShop has launched a trio of promotions for the month of July called Miles, Miles and More Miles. On offer are triple KrisFlyer miles, an 800,000 KrisFlyer miles giveaway, and 1,500 bonus miles for KrisFlyer UOB cardholders. 

Speaking of which, if you hold a KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card, you can earn up to an incredible 17 mpd for S$200 of KrisShop spend- more details on that below. 

All offers run from 5 July 2021 (1200 hrs SGT) to 28 July 2021 (2359 hrs SGT), referred to as the “promotion period” for the rest of this article. 

Earn 4.5 mpd on KrisShop purchases

During the promotion period, KrisShop customers will earn 4.5 mpd on all purchases, broken down into:

• The usual 1.5 mpd
• A bonus of 3 mpd 

1.5 mpd will be awarded initially, with the bonus 3 mpd awarded within eight weeks from 28 July 2021, i.e. 22 September 2021. 

Do remember that KrisShop does not award miles for taxes and shipping, although you’ll still earn miles for this from your credit card. For example, if I want to buy 48 pieces of delicious satay, I’ll earn KrisShop miles based on S$98 and credit card miles based on S$104.86 (S$98 + 7% GST)

800,000 miles giveaway

During the promotion period, the top 20 spenders on KrisShop.com who complete their payments using credit cards or KrisFlyer miles only will win additional miles according to the table below. 

You’ll need to opt-in to this contest, so look out for the pop-up form after checkout to enter your details and provide consent (be sure to deactivate your ad blocker). 

This contest is open to KrisFlyer members from the following countries.

Winners will be informed via email by 31 August 2021 and must reply within three business days.

Earn 1,500 bonus miles with KrisFlyer UOB cards

During the promotion period, shoppers who spend at least S$200 on KrisShop.com and pay in full with a KrisFlyer UOB Credit or Debit Card will receive an additional 1,500 miles. Do note that the S$200 is based on the amount reflected in the card statement, so taxes and shipping will count. 

There is no cap on the maximum number of shoppers who can receive this bonus, although it is limited to one per cardholder. Bonus miles will be credited directly to your KrisFlyer account by 31 October 2021.

What card should I use with KrisShop?

Use the KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card, end of story. Thanks to a combination of this promotion and a separate one run by UOB, you can earn an incredible 17 mpd on KrisShop.

Here’s how it works. Spend at least S$200 on KrisShop with your KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card, and you’ll earn:

• 2,400 miles from KrisShop (S$200 @ 4.5 mpd + bonus 1,500 miles for spending at least S$200)*
• 600 miles from KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card (S$200 @ 3 mpd)
• 400 miles from UOB GSS campaign (S$200 @ 2 mpd)

*To simplify the calculation, I’m ignoring the GST component within the S$200, which won’t earn 4.5 mpd from KrisShop. If you’re really curious, the actual rate works out to 16.7 mpd.

That’s 3,400 miles for S$200 spending, or 17 mpd!

Singapore Airlines is currently running a campaign that allows KrisFlyer and PPS Club members to earn Elite miles or PPS Value by converting rewards points, spending on co-brand cards, or making purchases with KrisShop or via Kris+. 

For every S$1 spent at KrisShop, KrisFlyer and PPS Club members will earn 3 Elite miles and 1 PPS Value respectively.

Conclusion

KrisShop has lined up a very impressive campaign for July, and KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card members should look to spend at least S$200 on the platform for a bumper return of 3,400 miles (don’t forget to register for the UOB campaign first!).

That said, it’s still best practice to comparison shop with other platforms, as in my experience KrisShop may not always have the most competitive prices.
