From now till 14 July 2021 (or while stocks last), Grab is running a 25% pointsback promo for selected items in the GrabRewards catalogue, including Lazada and ZALORA gift cards and CapitaStar STAR$.
This sale can be accessed through the rewards section of the Grab app.
Get 25% pointsback on redemptions
GrabRewards users who redeem the following rewards up till 14 July 2021 will receive a 25% points rebate.
|Voucher||Regular Price||Flash Sale Price|
|S$5 off Ezbuy||1,875|
|S$5 Razer Gold||1,875|
|S$5 Watsons e-voucher||1,875|
|S$5 Paris Baguette||1,875|
|S$10 ZALORA gift card||3,750|
|S$20 Lazada gift card||7,500|
Note that this is a rebate, not a discount– you can’t redeem a 5,000 points voucher if you have 4,000 points, for example, notwithstanding the fact the nett cost of the voucher is actually 3,750 points (75% of 5,000). The 25% pointsback is credited instantly to your GrabRewards balance with no action required from you.
Limited redemptions are available for each of these rewards; the cap can be found under the individual item’s T&Cs (for STAR$, it’s 20 sets per customer). Do note that validity also differs by reward.
If you’re looking for flexibility, STAR$ probably present the best choice and remember, PAssion Card members can redeem a S$5 eCapitaVoucher for 4,500 STAR$ instead of the usual 5,000. A total of 10,000 such discounted vouchers can be redeemed per month, capped at two per CapitaStars member. To learn more about mall rewards programs like CapitaStars, read my full guide here.
How are GrabRewards points awarded?
Back in March 2021, Grab changed the GrabRewards earning structure to further reward users who spent with the GrabPay wallet, as opposed to a credit or debit card. This is basically meant to entice you to maintain a GrabPay wallet balance.
|Points per S$1 Spent|
(From 22 March 2021)
|Member Tier||GrabPay Wallet||Credit/ Debit Card||Cash|
GrabPay wallet balances can now be cashed out to a bank account, provided the balance wasn’t topped up via a credit card. Virtually all credit cards (with an exception or two) no longer reward GrabPay top-ups though, so there’s little reason why you’d want to do that in the first place.
Grab used to offer a (terrible value) Rewards Multiplier package, but mercifully that’s since been removed from the subscriptions…
This sale isn’t as generous as the previous 35% pointsback one we saw in May and June, so I might hold my fire and wait for a better offer to come round. Grab periodically replenishes items in its flash sale catalogue, so if you see that a particular item has sold out, it’s always worth checking back slightly later.
1 GrabRewards point is normally worth 0.2 cents, but with the 25% pointsback I’m effectively getting 0.27 cents per point with these rewards.
