Marriott Bonvoy Week of Wonders: Up to 33% off award stays and 25% off paid stays

Expired

From 7-14 October 2021, book award nights at off-peak prices and save 25% off paid nights at participating hotels worldwide.

Marriott Bonvoy has brought back its annual Week of Wonders campaign, which runs from 7-14 October 2021.

During this campaign, members can book award nights at up to 33% off, save 25% off paid nights, buy points with a 55% bonus, enjoy a 20% discount off the Westin, Marriott and Sheraton boutiques and more.

Week of Wonders

I’ll look at the points sale in a separate post, and focus on the award night/paid night discounts in this one.

Up to 33% off award redemptions

Wonders of Discovery

During Week of Wonders, award nights can booked at up to 33% off from 7-14 October 2021, with stays by 31 October 2021.

This basically means that Marriott Bonvoy is offering off-peak pricing at selected hotels during this period. In some categories, the off-peak pricing is indeed 33% less than standard, but in others, the differential is a more modest 14%.

Category Off-Peak  Standard Peak
1 5,000  7,500 10,000
2 10,000 12,500 15,000
3 15,000  17,500 20,000
4 20,000  25,000 30,000
5 30,000  35,000 40,000
6 40,000  50,000 60,000
7 50,000 60,000 70,000
8 70,000 85,000 100,000

Marriott has not provided a list of eligible hotels, but from what I can see, not all hotels are participating. In Singapore, for example, the St. Regis (Cat. 6) and Vagabond (Cat. 5) are indeed pricing at off-peak rates, but the W Sentosa Cove (Cat. 6) is not.

For those of you thinking of a Germany trip, participation in Munich seems to be much better from what I can see. All hotels are showing off-peak pricing, and some even lower than that because of Marriott Bonvoy’s ongoing PointSavers offers.

PointSavers overrides Week of Wonders discounted pricing; for example, the Sheraton Munich Arabellapark and Westin Grand Munich cost 30,000 points per off-peak night, but are showing as 27,500 points. I’m not complaining.

If you want to be sure you’re getting the off-peak rate and not the standard/peak one, you can cross reference the hotel’s pricing with this tool which shows what the off-peak, standard and peak rates at a given property should be.

For those who made award bookings prior to the announcement of this promotion, you’ll need to cancel and rebook to enjoy the lower price (or, if you’re paranoid about the award space disappearing, contact Marriott customer service on live chat to request a price adjustment).

Marriott’s evergreen 5th night free offer on points redemptions remains, and will stack with this promotion.

25% off paid stays

Wonders of Escape

Marriott is offering up to 25% off participating hotels for paid bookings made between 7-14 October 2021 , with stays by 17 January 2022.

I doubt this promotion will be very useful for staycations, given that only three Singapore hotels are participating (Sheraton Towers, Vagabond Club, Duxton Reserve), and the Sheraton Towers is on SHN duty till who knows when. I can’t say the pricing at Duxton Reserve is making me think of a return visit either…

However, Munich and Frankfurt have 12 and 5 properties respectively participating, and could be worth a look if you’re headed to Germany. 89 Euros for the Le Meridien Frankfurt is certainly a good deal in my book.

Rates booked under this promotion are non-refundable, so be sure to firm up your plans before pulling the trigger.

Conclusion

Week of Wonders runs for seven days (thanks Captain Obvious), and you’ll need to lock in your award or paid bookings by 14 October 2021.

I suspect the off-peak pricing offer won’t be that useful to most members, since you need to book within the next week and stay by the end of the month. But if you’re willing to lock in some future plans, remember that the 25% off paid stays offer is valid all the way up to 17 January 2022.

thanks very much Aaron.
well, it seems that only 3/4 Marriott properties are even available for bookings at this stage.
Is there a website that tells us exactly which hotels are on SHN national service?
cheers!
