UOB is giving its cobrand KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card a year-end revamp plus a mega-miles giveaway, per an SMS sent to customers yesterday.
Effective immediately, KrisFlyer UOB Credit Cardholders can enjoy:
- An uncapped 3 mpd on all Kris+ spend, no minimum spend required
- An instant upgrade to KrisShopper Icon status, which grants a bonus 3 mpd on all KrisShop purchases
What’s more, from now till 28 February 2023, every S$200 spent earns chances to participate in the 10 million miles giveaway, featuring 200 prizes of 50,000 KrisFlyer miles each.
Earn 3 mpd on Kris+ purchases
The KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card has historically awarded 3 mpd on Singapore Airlines, Scoot and KrisShop transactions.
From 10 November 2022, all transactions on Kris+ will also earn 3 mpd, with no minimum spend or cap. This is on top of the miles from Kris+ itself, which can be 3, 6 or 9 mpd depending on merchant, so all-in you’re looking at a year-round earn rate of up to 12 mpd.

While it’s true that you could earn up to 13 mpd with Kris+ by using cards like the DBS Woman’s World Card (all Kris+ transactions) or HSBC Revolution (selected Kris+ transactions), keep in mind that 4 out of that 13 mpd will be capped.
For example, in the table below note how all the 4 mpd cards have monthly caps.

If you’re making a big ticket purchase at a Kris+ merchant like Challenger or Harvey Norman, then the KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card could very well be the best option.

If you don’t already have a Kris+ account, using the code KPUOB2211 during account creation will give you 1,500 KrisPay miles, worth S$10. These can only be spent through the Kris+ app, and cannot be transferred to KrisFlyer. The code is ostensibly for KrisFlyer UOB Credit Cardholders, but I don’t see any reason why it can’t be used by the public (since there’s no need to furnish a credit card at the point of sign up). |
Kris+ spending does not unlock Accelerated Miles
As a reminder, the KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card earns 3 mpd on two types of transactions:
- SIA Group Spend (SIA, Scoot, KrisShop, Kris+)
- Accelerated Miles (Dining, food delivery, online shopping & travel, transport)
While Kris+ transactions are treated in a similar manner to Singapore Airlines, Scoot and KrisShop transactions (in the sense that there’s no minimum spend, cap, or delayed crediting), it does not count towards the minimum spend required to unlock Accelerated Miles.

The minimum spend to unlock Accelerated Miles was recently increased from S$500 to S$800 and backdated to affect cardholders with membership years beginning from May 2022 onwards, which is classic UOB tomfoolery.

From now till 31 January 2023, KrisFlyer UOB Credit Cardholders can enjoy instant KrisShopper Icon status, which awards a bonus 3 mpd on all KrisShop purchases. Be advised, however, that this is only possible if you have not already signed up for KrisShopper.

Registration is required, and can be done via this link. Status will be upgraded within three months of registration, and valid for a 12-month period following that. You will subsequently need to requalify through regular means, i.e. spending S$10,000 on KrisShop within a membership year.
Don’t forget that from now till 30 November 2022, making purchases via KrisShop on Kris+ earns a flat bonus of 4.5 mpd, so an Icon member is looking at 7.5 mpd, before credit card miles are factored in.

10 million miles giveaway
From now till 28 February 2023, UOB is giving away a whopping 10 million miles, in the form of 200 prizes of 50,000 miles each.
Registration is required, and can be done by sending the following SMS to 77862:

Once registered, cardholders will earn chances as follows:
- Existing KrisFlyer UOB Credit or Debit cardholders: 1 chance per S$200 spent
- New KrisFlyer UOB Credit or Debit cardholders: 2 chances per S$200 spent
New cardholders refer to those who were approved during the promotion period of 10 November 2022 to 31 January 2023, and did not cancel any KrisFlyer UOB Credit or Debit Card in the past six months prior to 10 November 2022.
For avoidance of doubt, the S$200 spend can be in one or more transactions. For example, someone who makes 4x transactions of S$50 each will receive one chance (two chances if new).
A total of four draws will be carried out as per the table below, and 50 winners picked per draw.

Conclusion
KrisFlyer UOB Credit Cardholders will now enjoy an uncapped 3 mpd on all Kris+ transactions, regardless of category. When stacked with the regular Kris+ miles, this could yield anywhere from 6 to 12 mpd- a very tidy haul indeed.
They can also enjoy instant KrisShopper Icon status which gives a bonus 3 mpd on all purchases, although this is only possible if they have not already signed up for a KrisShopper membership.
If you plan to spend on your KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card over the next few months, be sure to register for the lucky draw as well. It doesn’t cost you anything to participate, and 50,000 miles would be a nice surprise.

There are always incentive to shop KrisShop via Kris+ but it likely wont count towards the minimum spend required to unlock Accelerated Miles?
Or if the reference is “KrisPay*KrisShopOnline Singapore” it will be considered as KrisShop? Any data point on the above?
