Earn up to 6 mpd on SIA tickets with the KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card

Expired

From now till 16 March, earn 1,500 bonus miles per S$500 spent on SIA tickets, plus a S$50 KrisShop eVoucher with min. S$800 spend.

Back in February, UOB launched a bonus miles offer for KrisFlyer UOB Credit Cardholders who purchased Singapore Airlines tickets. This allowed them to earn 1,500 bonus miles per S$500 spent, which stacked with the regular 3 mpd for a total earn rate of up to 6 mpd (“up to” because you won’t earn 6 mpd unless you manage to spend in exact multiples of S$500).

This offer has now returned once again, and is valid till 16 March 2023. However, like before, the number of bonus awards is capped at 1,000.

This can be further stacked with a S$50 KrisShop eVoucher, available to Mastercard cardholders who spend at least S$800 on Singapore Airlines tickets.

Earn up to 6 mpd on Singapore Airlines tickets

From 23 February to 16 March 2023, KrisFlyer UOB Credit Cardholders can register for this promotion by sending the following SMS to 77862:

📱 SMS to 77862
SQUOB<space>Last 4 alphanumeric digits of NRIC/Passport<space>booking reference number
e.g. SQUOB 567A ABC123

Since a booking reference number is required, you’ll need to have booked your itinerary first before registering to claim your miles. A separate SMS must be sent for every booking made.

Registered cardholders will earn a flat bonus of 1,500 KrisFlyer miles for every S$500 spent via singaporeair.com or the SingaporeAir mobile app. There is no explicit mention of whether you can pay for taxes and surcharges on award tickets, though I don’t see anything in the T&Cs that would preclude that.

Each cardholder is limited to earning a maximum of four awards (i.e. 6,000 KrisFlyer miles; S$2,000 spend), and the total number of awards is capped at 1,000. Yes, it wouldn’t be a UOB promotion without a cap!

As a reminder, KrisFlyer UOB Credit Cardholders normally earn an uncapped 3 mpd on Singapore Airlines, Scoot, KrisShop and Kris+ transactions, so your total earn rate would be up to 6 mpd, assuming you manage to spend in blocks of S$500.

Buying Singapore Airlines tickets also counts towards the S$800 minimum spend required to earn 3 mpd on dining, food delivery, online shopping, travel and transport under the Accelerated Miles feature of the card.

Is it worth it?

An earn rate of 6 mpd on Singapore Airlines tickets would be attractive indeed- provided it were guaranteed. As with all things UOB, there’s a gamble involved. You’re guaranteed at least 3 mpd, but the remaining 3 mpd depends on whether you manage to grab any of the 1,000 awards on offer.

If you don’t feel like rolling the dice, the cards below would be good alternatives for buying Singapore Airlines tickets.

KrisFlyer UOB Credit Cardholders can stack the bonus miles with a separate promotion that Mastercard is running.

From 23 February to 16 March 2023, Mastercard cardholders who spend at least S$800 on Singapore Airlines tickets via singaporeair.com, SingaporeAir mobile app or Singapore Airlines appointed agents will receive a S$50 KrisShop eVoucher.

Registration is required, and can be done here. Do note that the registration form requires your booking reference number and flight details, so you can only register after you’ve made your booking. The first board point of the entire itinerary must be departing from Singapore.

A maximum of one KrisShop eVoucher will be issued per booking reference, and a total of 215 KrisShop eVouchers are available for redemption. KrisShop eVouchers will be sent via email by 31 May 2023.

Conclusion

KrisFlyer UOB Credit Cardholders can now register to earn 1,500 bonus miles per S$500 spent on Singapore Airlines tickets. This could yield a total earn rate of up to 6 mpd, provided you complete your spending before the 1,000 awards are snapped up.

On top of this, there’s a S$50 KrisShop eVoucher up for grabs, provided you spend at least S$800 and limited to 215 redemptions.

For what it’s worth, the promotion started just today, so if you plan to buy any tickets you might want to do that ASAP and register your booking.

If I booked before 23rd Feb (I booked on 21st Feb), but register and sign up for the promotion during this period – can I still qualify?

Jason Lim

The terms and conditions for this campaign is pretty clear. I also just booked my tickets last week.

“Valid for new Singapore Airlines flight tickets where the first board point of the entire flight itinerary must be departing from Singapore, booked on singaporeair.com, SingaporeAir mobile app or Singapore Airlines Appointed Agents with Mastercard cards issued in Singapore from 23 February to 16 March 2023.”

thx

to apply for the card, “spend 2k in 60 days” does using UOB payment facility count?

Somebody

yada, yada, yada…and you must face east on a full moon day and chant at midnight from the Tibetan book of the Dead for a 10% chance of being in the first 1000. Typical UOB. Some companies are absolutely worth being a shareholder of and not a customer #facepalm

Stan Adams

Does UOB take a very long time to process new card applications? Asking since I applied 2 weeks ago and haven’t heard back

Cheval

Any idea if the promo has hit the cap?
