American Express has launched a new AMEX Offer for Hilton hotels in Singapore, which gives cardholders S$80 off a minimum spend of S$400 made by 21 May 2023. Registration is required, and capped at 15,000 cards.
This is a great opportunity to save up to 20% on an upcoming staycation, meal or spa treatment- it’s just a shame that the Conrad Centennial Singapore no longer participates in AMEX Love Dining.
โ What are AMEX Offers? |
AMEX Offers are opportunities to earn bonus miles, Membership Rewards points, or discounts in the form of statement credits. They can be found in the โOffersโ section of the AMEX app or web portal. Registration is required, and some offers may be targeted. These are not applicable to DBS, Citi or UOB AMEX cardholders. |
Save S$80 off S$400 at Hilton hotels in Singapore
To take advantage of this offer, you’ll need to visit the AMEX app or AMEX online banking and register.
In my case, the offer did not appear on my AMEX app, but I saw it when I logged in to the desktop portal. The offer was available for my:
- AMEX HighFlyer Card
- AMEX KrisFlyer Ascend
- AMEX Platinum Charge
- AMEX Platinum Reserve
One registered, cardholders who spend at least S$400 at a participating venue by 21 May 2023 will receive a one-time S$80 statement credit.
Hotel | Participating Outlets |
Conrad Centennial Singapore |
|
Hilton Garden Inn Serangoon |
|
Hilton Singapore Orchard |
|
The S$400 must be spent at a single participating hotel in one or more transactions for stays, dining or spa treatments. Spend cannot be accumulated between different hotel locations, though it can be combined among different outlets within the same hotel.
For example, spending S$300 at Golden Peony and S$100 at Oscars would trigger the statement credit, while spending S$300 at Golden Peony and S$100 at Ginger Lily would not.
Payments must be made in-person at the front desk or at a participating restaurant, bar or lounge within the property. This means that you won’t be able to book rates that are prepaid online.
โ ๏ธ Prepaid reservations |
A caveat to the above statement. In my personal experience, Hilton’s website does not charge credit cards, even for prepaid reservations. Instead, my card only gets charged at the front desk at check-in. I can’t guarantee that will be the case at every hotel and with every rate, so do it at your own risk. |
However, what you can do is email the reservations team and let them know that you wish to book a prepaid rate, then go down to the hotel to swipe your card at the front desk ahead of your stay.
The offer is limited to one use per card, but if you have multiple cards you can register multiple times. There is an overall registration cap of 15,000 eligible cards.
When will I get my statement credit?
Statement credits should appear on your billing statement within 15 business days from qualifying spend, but may take up to 90 days from the offer end date.
In practice, AMEX is quite prompt with processing these credits; for most past offers I’ve waited no more than a few days.
Stack with Dine Like a Member
Dine Like A Member |
While Conrad Centennial no longer participates in the AMEX Love Dining programme, you can still stack this offer with the Hilton Dine Like a Member offer, which runs till 30 June 2023.
Hilton Honors can save 10-25% off the bill at participating F&B outlets across Asia Pacific:
Member Tier | Discount |
Member | 10% |
Silver | 10% |
Gold | 25% |
Diamond | 25% |
All the participating dining outlets for the AMEX Offer are also eligible for Dine Like a Member discounts.
For example, a Gold/Diamond member who spends S$449 on F&B would end up paying S$400 after discount, service charges and taxes (S$449 * 0.75 * 1.1 * 1.08). That’s enough to trigger the S$80 statement credit, so he basically pays S$320 and gets S$449 of F&B- not too bad in my book.
If you’re a regular/Silver member, the number to hit is S$375, before discount, service charges and taxes.
Conclusion
American Express cardholders can now register to receive a S$80 statement credit when they spend at least S$400 at Hilton properties in Singapore by 21 May 2023. Registration is capped at 15,000 cards, so take a moment to do so just in case.
It’s just a shame that this doesn’t apply to overseas Hilton properties, but hey, gift horse mouth don’t look.
2020 called and wants its staycations back.
I usually don’t get charge even for prepaid reservation. However, got mixed data points for my recent trip to Japan.
Stayed at a few Hilton and weirdly, some charges the credit card I input during reservation, and some don’t. YMMV.
Hi Aaron, does the cap of 15,000 cards mean only the first 15,000 cards which trigger the spend criteria will get the credits?
Or does it mean that once I have saved to card, I will certainly get the credits as long as I fulfill the spend criteria?
