Atome+ points can now be converted to Max Miles

Max Miles can now be earned with more than 5,000 online and offline Atome merchants, on top of regular credit card rewards.

HeyMax has announced a new partnership with BNPL platform Atome, which allows users to convert Atome+ points into Max Miles.

This provides another way of accumulating valuable Max Miles from everyday spend, as Atome+ points can be earned on all online and offline transactions at more than 5,000 Atome merchants. Moreover, Atome+ points are on top of whatever rewards you earn from your credit card.

Convert Atome+ points to Max Miles

With the new HeyMax x Atome partnership, users can now convert Atome+ points into Max Miles at the following ratios.

Atome+ Points Max Miles
650 400
1,600 1,000

The ratio for converting 1,600 Atome+ points (0.625 Max Miles per point) is ever-so-slightly better than the ratio for 650 Atome+ points (0.615 Max Miles per point), though it’s so marginal that you shouldn’t feel bad for cashing out at a lower denomination.

To redeem Max Miles, open the Atome app, tap on your Atome+ balance and look for the HeyMax option.

Upon redemption, a code will be generated. This code can then be redeemed on the HeyMax app under Profile > Redeem a Code

Max Miles should be credited instantly.

How do you earn Atome+ points?

As a reminder, Atome+ points are awarded at a rate of 1 point per S$2 spent (the rate used to be 1 point per S$1, but was devalued a few years ago).

Assuming you value a Max Mile at 2 cents each (I’m basing this on the FlyAnywhere value, though you could certainly get more value than this), then your effective rebate is 1%. It’s not life-changing, but remember, this is on top of your credit card rewards.

Another way of viewing it is that Atome allows you to earn an incremental 0.31 mpd on your transactions.

Atome allows users to redeem up to 6,000 Atome+ points per month, which works out to S$12,000 of spending.

Atome+ points can be converted to KrisFlyer too

Back in August 2022, Atome launched a partnership with Singapore Airlines that allows for conversions of Atome+ points into KrisFlyer miles.

The transfer ratio has been slightly devalued since then, and now stands as follows.

Atome+ Points KrisFlyer miles
960 400
2,400 1,000

As you can see, it’s almost 50% more expensive to redeem KrisFlyer miles than Max Miles, and given the greater versatility of the latter, it’s a no-brainer decision for me.

What can you do with Max Miles?

Max Miles can be converted to 27 airline and hotel loyalty programmes at a 1:1 ratio, without any fees.

As a matter of best practice, you should be manually triggering payments ahead of the due date, as there have been reports that automatic payments are seen as recurring billing arrangements and may not earn points (especially with the Citi Rewards Card).

Manual payments can be made via the Atome app, under the Bills tab.

Conclusion

Get S$10 off first Atome purchase

Atome users can now convert Atome+ points to Max Miles, which works out to an incremental 0.31 mpd on top of existing credit card rewards.

While BNPL services can be dangerous for those who use them to spend beyond their means, they’re an invaluable tool for miles chasers- not just for cash flow benefits, but the ability to optimise bonus caps and earn rewards on otherwise ineligible MCCs like education.
