AMEX Platinum Charge cardholders enjoy access to a wide range of airport lounges worldwide. In addition to American Express’ own Centurion Lounge network, they can visit Priority Pass and Plaza Premium Lounges, and even a few airline-operated lounges, under certain circumstances.
Unfortunately, that list will get slightly smaller from October 2026, when American Express cuts access to Lufthansa lounges.
American Express cuts access to Lufthansa lounges

OMAAT reports that from 1 October 2026, American Express will discontinue access to Lufthansa lounges worldwide.
For context, principal and supplementary AMEX Platinum Charge cardholders currently enjoy complimentary access to Lufthansa lounges, when departing on a same-day Lufthansa Group flight. No guests are permitted.

| Cardholder ticket class | Access |
| Business Class | Lufthansa Senator Lounge |
| Any cabin | Lufthansa Business Lounge |
Passengers with a Business Class ticket get access to the Lufthansa Senator Lounge, while passengers with Premium Economy or Economy Class tickets can visit the Lufthansa Business Lounge.

Senator Lounges are normally reserved for Star Gold members (a non-status Business Class passenger would not receive access), and are supposedly superior to Business Lounges, with better catering and a wider alcohol selection. In practice, however, the main difference I’ve observed is slightly less crowding.
The removal of these lounges will create a notable coverage gap in certain German airports such as Munich, where Lufthansa lounges are the only option in Terminal 2 (where Singapore Airlines and other Star Alliance carriers operate). A full list of Lufthansa lounge locations can be found here.

Mind you, this is probably a bigger loss for Centurion cardmembers, who currently receive access to Lufthansa First Class Lounges. These are considerably nicer, with restaurant dining, a cocktail bar, and a cigar lounge, for those who like that sort of thing.
While I can’t find anything about this removal on the AMEX Singapore website, these are global agreements, so it seems all but certain that Singapore cardholders will be affected too. In any case, I’ve reached out to American Express Singapore for a statement, and will update this post when I get a reply.
What lounges remain?

Following the removal of Lufthansa lounges, here are the lounge options for AMEX Platinum Charge cardholders.
| Principal Card | Supp. Card | |
| Priority Pass | Unlimited visits (+1 guest) | 8x visits (1st supp. card only) |
| Centurion Lounges | Unlimited visits (+2 guests)^ | Unlimited visits (+2 guests)^ |
| Delta Sky Clubs | Unlimited visits* | Unlimited visits* |
| International American Express Lounges | Unlimited visits (+2 guests) | Unlimited visits (+2 guests) |
| Plaza Premium Lounges | Unlimited visits (+1 guest) | Unlimited visits (+1 guest) |
| *Must be travelling on same day Delta Airlines flight, in any cabin (except Basic Economy) ^If you read online that guest access has been cut, check your source carefully. Guest access was removed for US-issued cards in 2023. It’s still available for Singapore-issued cards |

Lounge privileges are identical between principal and supplementary cards, with one exception:
- Principal cardholders receive unlimited Priority Pass visits, together with one guest
- The first supplementary cardholder receives eight Priority Pass visits, which can be shared with one or more guests (e.g. they could visit the lounge with three guests and use four visits in total)
- The second and subsequent supplementary cardholders do not have any Priority Pass privileges
Unfortunately, Priority Pass memberships issued by American Express do not cover so-called “non-lounge airport experiences” such as restaurants and spas. For example, you will not be able to redeem set meals or dining credits at any of the Changi Airport restaurants that otherwise participate.
If you try to use your Priority Pass here, the transaction will fail — so you don’t need to be worried about getting charged accidentally, because it’s simply not possible.
Explained: Non-lounge restrictions for AMEX-issued Priority Pass cards
It’s worth remembering that additional supplementary cards beyond the two complimentary ones cost just S$163.50 each. This is arguably a good deal, given that they still receive unlimited visits to Centurion and Plaza Premium Lounges.
Conclusion
From 1 October 2026, American Express and Lufthansa will be terminating their lounge partnership.
This was always a somewhat restrictive benefit, since you couldn’t just waltz into the lounge — a same-day Lufthansa Group ticket was required. That said, it did help to cover gaps in the Priority Pass network in Germany, and I’m sure most cardholders would rather have the option than not.
For a detailed rundown of which credit cards in Singapore give lounge access, refer to this post.
Hi Aaron, regarding ‘The first supplementary cardholder receives eight Priority Pass visits, which can be shared with one or more guests’, CSO said it can be shared with one guest only with additional guests chargeable. Not sure how true this is?
there are many reports in the telegram chat of people visiting with multiple guests and having visits deducted accordingly
Lufthansa decided to cut American Express as reported in various media.
