New AMEX offer: Up to S$430 hotel credits with Hyatt, Millennium Hotels, Wyndham & Oakwood

American Express has launched a new set of hotel offers for The Unlimited Collection by Oakwood, Millennium Hotels & Resorts, World of Hyatt and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, which gives registered cardholders up to S$430 in statement credits for hotel stays, dining and spa treatments.

This offer has now been expanded beyond just Singapore to selected hotels in Australia and New Zealand as well. 

These limited-quantity offers are now open for registration, and valid for use up till 30 November 2022. 

AMEX Hotel Offers

American Express hotel credit offers

American Express cardholders can now register for the above AMEX Offers via the AMEX app or online banking portal. 

Registration is on a per card basis, and each offer can be used once per card (except The Unlimited Collection by Oakwood, which allows two uses). If you have multiple AMEX cards, you can register both and enjoy the same multiple times- but out of consideration to others, please don’t register more cards than you need.

Transactions must be charged by 30 November 2022 to qualify for the offer; any transactions charged after this date will not be eligible, even if your stay took place within the promotional period.

Some points to note. 

Multiple transactions

There is no need to clock the entire spend in a single transaction.

For example, the Hyatt offer requires S$600 in cumulative spending to trigger a S$120 credit. You could do this in three separate transactions of S$300, S$180, and S$120. In fact, the transactions need not even be at the same property; you could combine spending across different participating properties within Hyatt. 

In-person vs online

Offers for The Unlimited Collection by Oakwood and Millennium Hotels & Resorts (for food orders) can be used online or in-person.

Offers for Millennium Hotels & Resorts (for stays), World of Hyatt and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts must be used in-person for payment at the front desk of the hotel.

If payments must be made in-person, any rates which are prepaid online will not qualify for the offer (provided payment is actually taken online; I’ve stayed on “prepaid” rates that weren’t charged until I arrived at the front desk). That’s a problem, since prepaid rates tend to be the cheapest, but fortunately there’s a workaround.

Look for the rate you wish to book on the website, then email the hotel and ask them to hold it for you. You can then head down to the hotel to swipe your card and make payment in advance of your actual stay. This wouldn’t work for overseas hotels, obviously, but it might be worth contacting them to see if something can be worked out. 

Crediting timelines

Credits should appear on your billing statement within 15 days from qualifying spend, but may take up to 90 days from the offer end date.
