KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes promotion for June 2018 announced

Snag these discounted award seats by 31 May 2018 for travel in the month of June 2018

Singapore Airlines releases a list of discounted KrisFlyer redemption Saver awards to select destinations every month called “Spontaneous Escapes“. These discounted awards are going at a 30% discount compared to their normal redemption prices.

Singapore Airlines has just released the list for travel in June 2018.  You’ll need to book these discounted award tickets by 31 May 2018 and travel between 1 June 2018 – 30 June 2018. Note that there are several blackout dates/blackout flights which are stated on the website and flights on these dates will price out at the normal redemption rates.

A reminder that tickets issued under the Spontaneous Escapes promotion are non-changeable and cannot be cancelled as well. This is unlike regular award tickets which at least allow you to refund your booking for a fee. Thus, your travel plans have to be very firm before taking advantage of this promotion (or you should buy a travel insurance policy that covers miles and points bookings).

Also note that if you are waitlisted on a Spontaneous Escapes award and should your waitlist not clear by 31 May 2018, you will be charged the normal rates for your award ticket when it clears.

Good variety of destinations, including the new A380 to Hong Kong

In June’s edition of the Spontaneous Escapes promotion, we’re seeing the flight to Hong Kong on the new A380 being offered at a discounted rate. The Spontaneous Escapes website even tells you the specific flight which will be operated by the new A380. Kinda cool.

Bangkok, Jakarta and Bali are sadly not on the list of discounted awards for June. Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh and Manila are the only destinations on offer within the South East Asian region. Flights further up North looks good with Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Shanghai on offer. SQ856 from Singapore to Hong Kong and SQ861 from Hong Kong to Singapore are the flights to choose if you wish to experience Singapore Airlines new A380 Business Class product.

Flights to Maldives are also on discount but do note that these flights are operated by the Airbus A330-300 featuring the old regional Business Class product. For flights to Australia, we’re once again seeing Sydney on offer together with Brisbane and Canberra. SQ221 from Singapore to Sydney is the flight which features the new A380 Business Class seats but do note that there is a blackout window for this particular flight together with SQ231 to Sydney.

Dubai is the only city in the Middle East region that is on discount for the month of June and for Europe, Dusseldorf makes yet another appearance and is the only city that is being discounted in the June edition of the Spontaneous Escapes promotion. Dusseldorf is served by the Airbus A350-900 featuring the 2013 Business Class seats which is a great product too plus you can use Dusseldorf as your springboard to other European destinations which you’re planning to visit should you be heading to Europe in June.

Over in SilkAir, only Economy Class flights are on offer yet again in June’s edition of the Spontaneous Escapes promotion.

Concluding Thoughts

While it’s sad to see Bangkok disappearing from the available list of discounted awards as it made it possible for me to experience the new regional Business Class product, it surprises me in fact to see Hong Kong still being offered for the June school holidays and more so on the flight which is served with the new A380 Business Class product. If you’re still looking at performing a booking for your upcoming holiday in June and haven’t done so, now’s a good time to make plans with the Spontaneous Escapes promotion.

Will this be a regular promo? Published second half of every month?

And just when we expected it to be monthly – no promos for July travel yet – any chance of it coming up?
