Limited registrations: UOB PRVI Miles AMEX giving 6 mpd on bill payments and online shopping

The first 1,200 registered UOB PRVI Miles AMEX cardholders will earn 6 mpd on selected online shopping and bill payments, capped at S$500 per month.

From 8 October to 31 December 2020, UOB PRVI Miles AMEX cardholders can register to earn 6 mpd on selected recurring bill payments with telcos and OEM suppliers, as well as selected online transactions like groceries, transport and food delivery.

This is capped at the first S$500 spent per calendar month, and you’ll need to be among the first 1,200 cardholders to register each month. Yes, you’ll need to re-register in subsequent months.

Earn 6 mpd on online recurring bill payments

Cardholders must first register their UOB PRVI Miles AMEX by sending the following SMS to 77862 using your mobile number registered with UOB:

Keyword<space>Last 4 alphanumeric digits of your NRIC/Passport Number

Example: If your NRIC is S1234567A, you will need to send “Keyword 567A” to 77862.

The keyword changes each month, and you will need to re-register each month:

Oct 2020AOCT8-31 Oct 2020
Nov 2020ANOV1-30 Nov 2020
Dec 2020ADEC1-31 Dec 2020

The first 1,200 cardholders to register each month will earn 6 mpd on eligible transactions charged to the card during that month, subject to a cap. This is split into:

  • the base earn rate of UNI$3.5 per S$5 (1.4 mpd)
  • a bonus of UNI$11.5 per S$5 (4.6 mpd)

The maximum bonus UNI$ you can earn each month is capped at UNI$1,150, i.e 2,300 miles. This means you’d max out the bonus by spending S$500 per month. Spending on the supplementary card will also count (there’s no need to register the supplementary card), but the cap is shared between principal and supplementary cardholders.

Bonus UNI$ will be credited to your account by 31 March 2021. The full T&Cs can be found here.

Eligible transactions must be charged in SGD (except for Netflix/Spotify subscriptions) and processed online. The following bill payments will be eligible:

For those of you who don’t speak MCC, this covers merchants such as:

  • Amazon Prime, Lazada, Qoo10, Shopee
  • Movie tickets
  • Cold Storage, Giant, FairPrice ON
  • All other local telcos/VMNOs beyond the explicitly mentioned Singtel, M1, Starhub and circles life

Do remember that all transactions must be done online– in store purchases will not qualify.

It’s good to see KrisShop (MCC 5309) included, which means the UOB PRVI Miles AMEX becomes the best card to use if purchasing SIA@Home, Restaurant A380@Changi or Inside Singapore Airlines experiences. However, remember the monthly cap is S$500, so if you’re buying one of those S$888 all-inclusive First Class packages, you might be well over the limit…

Conclusion

This is a great offer, but as always, the catch is you have no way of knowing whether you’re in the first 1,200. All you can do is register, spend and pray that some bonus UNI$ appear in your account at the end of March 2021.

I’d try and register at the stroke of midnight for each new month, just to be sure.

I know this has been whined about to death but not knowing if you are the first 1,200 is plain ridiculous.

wowza

What do you expect? Atrocious behaviour by UOB as usual.

Even their text message acknowledgement covers their ass pretty well “We have received your submission of interest to get up to 6 miles per $1 spend on UOB PRVI Miles Amex in month of Oct20 …”

I got excited when I saw 6mpd and registered for it, then realise it was for Prvi Amex. I am holding PPA do not have any Prvi Amex.
Guess what I received the sms acknowledgement as well.. haha.. interesting mechanism they have.

How is Singtel on the list when it only accept MC or VISA, not AMEX?

Clarification: AMEX is accepted on Singtel website, but only MC and VISA via Singtel app.

Hi Aaron, you mentioned the MCC for KrisShop here. Do you happen to also know the MCC for iShopChangi?

Koh Boon Hee

M1 bill payment via the App does not work (WireCard issue) so how can we pay for this towards the bonus points promotion.
