American Express has launched a new AMEX Offer for KrisFlyer cobrand cardholders, which allows registered cardholdersย to earn a bonus of 1,000 miles after 12 transactions of any amount.ย
Like all AMEX Offers, this may be targeted, so if you don’t see it in the AMEX app or in your AMEX online portal it means you’re not eligible.

1,000 miles bonus after 12 transactions on AMEX KrisFlyer cards
Registration is required for this offer, and is open from now till 30 November 2020 (or until the registration cap is hit, whichever comes first).
A cap of 8,000 registrations per card applies, i.e the AMEX KrisFlyer Credit Card and AMEX KrisFlyer Ascend Card have their own 8,000 cap. I’m assuming a similar offer exists for the AMEX Solitaire PPS Card and AMEX PPS Card as well, so do sound out if you hold either of them.ย
Once registered, cardholders will receive a one-time bonus of 1,000 KrisFlyer miles after making 12 transactions of any amount on their registered card. These can be made in-person, in-app or online at merchants which accept AMEX cards.ย
All transactions must be charged to the card by 30 November 2020 to be eligible- take note of this if you’re using your card for certain e-commerce payments (where the transaction may not be charged until goods are shipped).ย
The 1,000 bonus miles will be credited to your account within 5 business days of meeting the qualifying criteria.ย
Easy ways to hit the threshold
The simplest way to hit the 12 transaction threshold would be buying Amazon or Qoo10 gift cards.
Do remember, however, that your “opportunity cost” here is 2.8-2.9 mpd (because you could have earned 4 mpd with the Citi Rewards/DBS Woman’s World Card, but are now settling for 1.1-1.2 mpd with the AMEX KrisFlyer cards).
One way to minimize the opportunity cost is to go for small value top-ups that wouldn’t normally earn miles otherwise, such as ShopeePay. ShopeePay lets you make top-ups as small as S$1. Make 12 of these and you’re golden.
Conclusion
Not a whole lot to analyze here, as this is a very simple way to add 1,000 KrisFlyer miles to your account. The only catch is to register quickly, since I imagine 8,000 slots will disappear rather fast.
