IHG Rewards Club offering 2X points on all stays (with no cap)

Register now and stay up till 15 December 2020 to earn double IHG Rewards Club points.

From 1 October to 15 December 2020, IHG is offering double points on all stays, with no cap on the bonus you can earn.

While there aren’t a lot of IHG hotels approved for staycations in Singapore, there’s no harm registering just in case.

IHG Unlimited Double Points promotion

IHG members must first register for the promotion via this link. Once registered, all qualifying stays between 1 October and 15 December 2020 will earn double points, with no cap. A qualifying stay must have a nightly rate of at least US$30 (and excludes award nights).

IHG members normally earn 10 points per US$1 (except at Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites, which aren’t relevant to us in Singapore anyway), and elite members earn a further bonus as follows:

  • Gold: 10% bonus
  • Platinum: 50% bonus
  • Spire: 100% bonus

With this double points promotion, members will earn:

  • Regular: 20 points per US$1
  • Gold: 21 points per US$1
  • Platinum: 25 points per US$1
  • Spire: 30 points per US$1

One IHG point is worth roughly 0.5 US cents, so you’re earning a very decent rebate of 10-15% with this offer.

Which IHG hotels are approved for staycations?

InterContinental Bugis
InterContinental Bugis

Although IHG has 11 different properties in Singapore, only two of them are approved for staycations at the moment:

  • InterContinental Bugis
  • Crowne Plaza Changi Airport

Even so, do remember that not every rate is eligible to earn IHG points. For example, the highly popular Suite Surprise package at the InterContinental Bugis is ineligible for IHG points, as are the Crowne Plaza staycation vouchers sold during the recent Travel Spark sale.

Conclusion

This promotion is likely to be of limited use to most of us in Singapore, but that could change once the Singapore Hong Kong travel bubble opens up. I count more than 10 IHG properties in Hong Kong, many of which are going for an absolute steal right now.

So take a moment to register, and let’s see where 2020 takes us.
