American Express has launched a new AMEX Offer which is an easy 500 miles, if you’re targeted. All you need to do is pay for your Amazon Prime SG subscription with your registered American Express card, and you’ll receive 500 bonus miles.
Given the cost of an Amazon Prime SG subscription, you’re paying just 0.6 cents per mile (and that’s not even taking into account the video/delivery benefits it comes with).
❓ What are AMEX Offers? |
AMEX Offers are opportunities to earn bonus miles or Membership Rewards points, or discounts in the form of statement credits. These are available to Platinum, True Cashback, and KrisFlyer cobrand cardholders, and can be found in the “Offers” section of the AMEX app or web portal. Registration is required, and some offers may be targeted. These are not applicable to American Express cards issued by DBS/Citibank/UOB. |
Earn 500 miles on Amazon Prime SG with American Express credit cards
From now till 31 January 2021, American Express cardholders can register their card in the AMEX app or online banking. Once registered, making a payment of S$2.99 or more (the cost of a monthly Amazon Prime SG subscription) will trigger 500 bonus miles.
Registration is limited to the first 8,000 cards, and the 500 bonus miles can only be earned once. I received this offer on my AMEX KrisFlyer Ascend, and it stands to reason you should be able to find it on the other cobrand KrisFlyer cards too.
This is all good well if you’re already an Amazon Prime SG subscriber, but if you’re a newcomer, there’s a little hitch. Amazon offers a free 30-day trial (the nerve of those people!), which means you won’t be charged straight away.
Since the offer runs till 31 January 2021, the deadline for signing up for an Amazon Prime SG account is really 1 January 2021. Any later, and you’ll be billed after the deadline for the AMEX Offer.
Bonus KrisFlyer miles should appear in your account within 5 business days from the qualifying spend, but may take up to 90 days from the offer end date. In my personal experience, these track and credit very fast, so you’re unlikely to have to wait that long.
After you’ve made your first payment, however, you may want to switch your Amazon Prime SG default card to something like the Citi Rewards or HSBC Revolution, which will earn you 4 mpd (although the membership fee is so small it’s understandable if most people won’t bother).
Conclusion
This is a fairly easy-to-achieve offer, although you’ll want to sign up for an Amazon Prime SG account sooner rather than later if you don’t have one already.
I’ve been a subscriber for a while now, and think it’s sensational value to pay just S$2.99 for access to all that video content plus delivery perks.
Citi Rewards Visa do not earn the bonus points. only the basic points
there’s problems now with the CRV too? i thought it was just a mastercard issue. man…
I’m also facing same issue, and DBS woman world card also same. It looks from July or August.
