DBS’s latest spending promotion has gone live, and this time round, registered cardholders can win up to S$128 of Watson vouchers during each promotional period.
There are some key differences between this current promotion and the ones we’ve seen previously. First of all, qualifying spending is limited to transactions made at Watsons (in-store, in-app or online). Second, the prize received upon meeting the spending goal will vary depending on your luck- unlike previous spend and redeem promotions, the value is not guaranteed.
DBS Watsons CNY Spend & Win
The first step is to register for the promotion, which can be done via the DBS PayLah app. Select “Rewards” at the bottom menu bar, and tap “Join Now” under the Watsons CNY Spend & Win promo banner. Only spending made after registration counts, so be sure to do it ASAP.
Registration is capped at 8,000 registrants- full marks to DBS for including a counter so you can see how many registration slots are left. Other banks (cough UOB cough) take note.
After registration, cardholders will receive a personalised spend goal that they can achieve with transactions at Watsons stores, Watsons eStore or the Watsons SG App that are charged to a DBS/POSB credit card. Spending is cumulative across all DBS/POSB cards under your name; you don’t need to register a specific card. Supplementary cardholder spending will accrue to that of the principal cardholder.
Achieving the spend goal allows you to win Watsons vouchers as follows:

How does the reward work?
A draw chance will be awarded once the spend goal is met, and can be used to win one Watsons voucher as per the spend tier.
Once again, your gift value is not guaranteed. You will win S$6-68 in Watsons vouchers if you’re in Tier 1 (equivalent to a rebate of 3.6-40% of your spend), or S$8-128 in Watsons vouchers if you’re in Tier 2 (equivalent to a rebate of 2.8-44% of your spend).

Conclusion
If you regularly shop at Watsons, it doesn’t hurt to register your card for this offer. The best option would be to spend on the eStore or via the app using the DBS Woman’s World Card for 4 mpd; if you’re spending in physical retail outlets, you’d have to use the DBS Altitude (1.2 mpd), giving up miles you could otherwise have earned with the UOB Preferred Platinum Visa (4 mpd, with mobile payments).
