The Westin Singapore has launched a four-day flash sale which runs from now till 23 March 2021. During this period, guests can book a Stay 3 Pay 2 room offer, which comes with S$100 hotel credits and a room upgrade.
It’s certainly a good deal, but there’s something even better available…
Westin Singapore Stay 3 Pay 2 Offer
Let’s first look at the Westin Singapore’s Stay 3 Pay 2 offer. This comes with the following inclusions:
- Stay 3 nights and get the 3rd night free
- Guaranteed one category room upgrade
- S$100 hotel credit for F&B or spa
Reservations are fully refundable up to 11.59 p.m the day before arrival.
To book this rate, enter the code BOG in the Corporate/Promo/SET# field in the Special Rates dropdown menu. Do note that you’ll need to search for three nights in order for the special rate to appear (you can also book via Klook to use your SRV).
Here’s where the Marriott website is rather misleading, to its own detriment. The lowest rate I’m seeing during the promotional period is S$860++ (S$1,012 nett) for three nights.
However, the rate plan says that the third night will be removed at the time of check-out.
That means your actual rate isn’t S$860++, it’s S$600++ (S$706 nett). That’s because you only pay for the first and second night (S$310++ and S$290++), as seen below.
It means the Marriott website is making the rate appear more expensive than it actually is, which will no doubt deter some bookings. It’s silly, really, but in this case it benefits you. Use the rate calendar to see the prices of individual nights, then schedule the most costly night as the third night to have it taken off your bill.
The cheapest rate will book you into the lead-in Deluxe King room, but remember there’s a guaranteed upgrade, so you’ll end up in a Premier King room instead (basically a higher floor). Those who book a Premier King will receive a Grand Premier King (larger room).
Since breakfast is not included, I think this deal would be more attractive to Bonvoy Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador elites- in addition to free breakfast, they’ll also get an additional S$50 F&B credit per guest (capped at two) per night as long as the executive lounge is closed.
Isn’t this a Luminous rate?
The Westin Singapore is currently offering a third night free on Luminous bookings as well, and on the surface, this flash deal sounds very similar. There are some key differences, however:
Stay 3 Pay 2 | Luminous | |
Rate for 3 nights* |
From S$600++ (S$706 nett) |
From S$600++ (S$706 nett) |
Room upgrade | Yes | Yes |
Breakfast | No | Yes |
Hotel credits | S$100 | US$100 |
Early check-in | N/A | As available |
Late check-out | N/A | As available |
Refundable? | Yes | Yes |
Stay Period | 4-30 April 2021 | Till 30 June 2021 |
*After adjusting third night |
Both the Stay 3 Pay 2 rate and Luminous follow the hotel’s best available rate, so they’ll price the same regardless of dates. If you’re a Marriott Bonvoy elite, you’ll still receive your usual benefits on Luminous rates, including the aforementioned S$50-100 nightly F&B credit in lieu of the executive lounge.
Luminous bookings get US$100 hotel credits instead of S$100, and also free breakfast. In theory, they’re also entitled to a better room upgrade, although in practice it depends on what’s available. Finally, the booking window is wider for the Luminous third night free offer, which is available for stays up till 30 June 2021 (so it’ll apply during the June school holidays).
Therefore, it’s still better to book a Luminous rate through a platform like HoteLux (instant booking, but they’re not offering free memberships anymore unless you’re a healthcare worker) or any other luxury booking agent like QX Travel (booking via email, but no booking fees).
I suppose the only scenario where you’d prefer to book a non-Luminous rate is if you wanted to spend your SRV. This Stay 3 Pay 2 offer is available on Klook, so you can knock another S$100 off plus whatever bank promo codes are available. However, I’d argue your savings would be more than offset by the fact you have to pay for breakfast (S$45++ per person per day), and you also won’t earn any Bonvoy elite nights or points for bookings via Klook.
Stack with double points and elite nights
Marriott Bonvoy Promotion Registration
From now till 27 April 2021, registered Marriott Bonvoy members will earn double points and double elite nights for stays of at least two nights. Since the Westin Singapore gives you two paid nights (remember, the third is struck off at check-out), you’ll earn four elite nights per stay, on top of the double points.
This, when added to the 50% elite night credits that Marriott has already given for 2021, should help accelerate requalification.
Conclusion
If you’re thinking of booking the Westin Singapore’s Stay 3 Pay 2 offer, you’ll definitely want to explore Luminous rates before pulling the trigger.
I haven’t stayed at the Westin Singapore for a long time, but here’s a couple of recent reviews if you want an idea of the post COVID experience:
booking this on hotelux is the same, the quoted price for 3 nights is the full price. later on, hotelux will then email to give you the discounted price.
yes, because hotelux is basically giving you the luminous rate.
You will earn 6 elite night credits (the 3rd night also counted). This is confirmed.
I tried to check this with Hotelux and they told me it is only 4 elite nights. Were you able to try this out when you confirmed that it is 6 nights? Thank you!!!
by right is 4, by left people report 6.
Hi Aaron! Under recent reviews, may I kindly suggest this link for a quite a thorough review of The Westin Singapore too? TIA!
