Hilton Honors has announced the details of its next global promotion, which commences immediately after the current one ends on 6 September 2021.
From 7 September to 31 December 2021, registered members will earn 2X points on all eligible stays. While you may have read about 3X points on some overseas blogs, that only applies to members who pay with a Hilton cobrand credit card- not an option for us in Singapore.
Hilton Power Up Your Points
Hilton Power Up Your Points |
Under the Power Up Your Points promotion, registered Hilton Honors members will earn:
- 2X Hilton Honors points
- 3X Hilton Honors points, when paying with a Hilton Honors credit card
There is no minimum stay requirement to trigger the bonus.
Registration is now open, and stays must be made between 7 September and 31 December 2021. Registered Hilton Honors members checking in before 7 September 2021 will receive credit for their stay if the stay is completed on or after 7 September 2021 and prior to or on 31 December 2021.
The bonus refers to base points; elite points will not be multiplied. Here’s how many points you can expect to earn.
Points per US$1 | ||||
Base* | Promo (2X/3X) | Elite | Total | |
Member | 10 | 10/20 | 0 | 20/30 |
Silver | 10 | 10/20 | 2 | 22/32 |
Gold | 10 | 10/20 | 8 | 28/38 |
Diamond | 10 | 10/20 | 10 | 30/40 |
*Stays at Tru and Home2 properties earn 5 base points per US$1, but I doubt any Singapore-based Hilton member is going to stay at one of these anytime soon |
Since base points are awarded based on how much you spend, you won’t earn anything for an award night. However, if you spend on hotel F&B or other ancillaries and charge it to your room, you’ll earn bonus points on that expenditure.
For example, if I redeem an award night at Conrad Centennial and spend the equivalent of US$50 on F&B, I’ll earn 1,000 points as a base member (500 base, 500 bonus). A Hilton point is worth about 0.5 US cents, so you’re looking at a rebate of 10-20% on your stays, depending on Honors tier.
There is no cap on the maximum bonus points you can earn, and they will be credited within 6-8 weeks following your stay. The FAQ can be found here.
Conclusion
Hilton’s previous promo gave up to 3X points, but required a minimum stay of three nights. That wasn’t really feasible with staycations (how many staycations have you done that stretch three nights?), but could be easily done if the borders opened up.
So it figures the 3X door slams shut just as the VTL with Germany gets under way. I’m actually planning to stay at the Hilton Munich City from 7-8 September, but it’s an award stay so I won’t get too much out of that anyway.
Regardless, all Hilton members should take a minute to register, just in case.
