It’s been quite a while since we’ve seen a Marriott Bonvoy global promotion. The previous edition ended on 26 April 2021, and it’s been radio silence from the world’s largest hotel chain ever since.
But Marriott has finally unveiled its latest offer, and while it’s not earth-shattering, it’s better than nothing.
Marriott Bonvoy’s new global promo
Marriott Bonvoy Promo |
From 14 September to 12 December 2021, registered Marriott Bonvoy members will earn:
- 1,500 bonus points on all stays
- 4,500 bonus points at all-inclusive by Marriott Bonvoy resorts
There is no minimum night requirement, and award stays will not be eligible for this promotion.
There is no cap on the maximum points that can be earned. Registration must be completed by 28 November 2021, and only stays made after registration will count towards the promotion. Bonus points will be credited within seven business days after checkout.
In case you were wondering, all-inclusive by Marriott Bonvoy resorts are limited to Mexico and the Caribbean, so unless you fancy a 14-day SHN on return, it’s quite unlikely you’ll be able to take advantage of this.
Based on a value of 0.7 US cents/point, 1,500 points are a rebate of US$10.50. That may not be worth going out of your way to earn, unless you can regularly book sub-US$100 rates.
This is certainly a much weaker promotion than the last iteration, where members could earn double points and double elite nights. In fact, there was an opportunity to stack it with luxury agent rates to earn six elite nights for the cost of two!
Marriott Bonvoy 2021 initiatives
As a reminder, here are the other concessions that Marriott Bonvoy is offering for 2021.
50% elite night credit for 2021
All Marriott Bonvoy elite members will receive a bonus credit equal to 50% of the elite nights required for their 2020 tier, i.e:
- Silver members get five bonus elite nights
- Gold members get 13 bonus elite nights
- Platinum members get 25 bonus elite nights
- Titanium members get 38 bonus elite nights
- Ambassador members get 50 bonus elite nights
Bonus night credits have started to post, and you should see yours by the end of the week.
Marriott Ambassador spending requirement cut by 30%
Normally, Marriott Ambassador status requires 100 elite nights and US$20,000 in qualifying spending per calendar year. For 2021, the night requirement is the same, but the spending requirement is being cut by 30% to US$14,000.
Conclusion
Marriott Bonvoy’s latest promo is hardly likely to make me switch allegiances, although I will be staying at the Aloft Munich during my upcoming VTL trip (albeit on points).
As with all promos, it doesn’t hurt to register just in case.
Tried registering but promotion only seems valid for new sign-ups only. Existing members don’t qualify.
I registered for the promo as an existing member without an issue.
Did you click on “Already a member sign in”?
